Fashion Avenue Extension in Dubai Mall offers an eclectic selection of upmarket restaurants and cafes and Tulum Mexican Restaurant is the latest addition. Last Saturday we visited them for lunch and felt like we were transported to Mexico. Yes, Tulum is a little slice of Mexico right here in Dubai.
The vibrant interiors of the restaurant is inspired by ancient Mexican civilization. You can find painted ceramics, mosaics and colorful tableware. The restaurant is massive with indoor and outdoor dining area.

The outdoor dining area offers the stunning view of the iconic Dubai Fountains. There is live Mexican music and most of their staff are from Mexico.
Tulum celebrates the best of Southern Mexican culture, showcasing the rich Aztecan flavors. Loved the fact that they use native ingredients from Mexico in many of their dishes. We had an interactive and immersive dining experience.
We started off with a cool and refreshing Mocktail. All the guests are offered complimentary platter of Corn Tortilla and dips after being seated.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu features a range of starters, salads, soups, tacos, tortas, big plates and desserts along with wide variety of non alcoholic drinks. The options for vegetarians are limited.
We started off with Guacamole served along with homemade tortillas. The guacamole was super fresh and addictive. It was the best way to start an authentic Mexican meal.
Next we had the delicious and comforting Mexican Street Style Corn. It had corn on the cob with butter, lime mayo, Quesso Fresco and smoked chili powder.

From their raw bar section, we ordered Maria Sabina Ceviche. It had grilled and chilled oyster mushrooms with Mexican sauce and coriander oil. If you love mushrooms, then you’ll like their mushroom ceviche.
As our main course, we had two kinds of Quesadilla– Mushroom and Corn & Cheese. Both the quesadillas were packed with amazing flavor and great taste.

To indulge in our sweet cravings, we ordered Churros. They took almost 45 minutes to get the dessert which was annoying. It was worth the wait. The churros at Tulum is the best churros we ever had and came with three kinds of dips- caramel, strawberry and chocolate. I don’t mind visiting Tulum just for the churros. An absolute must-try.
We enjoyed our culinary experience at Tulum. It was like traveling to all the corners of Mexico and savoring the exquisite flavors from various regions without getting on a plane.
