When I come back from a holiday in India, I always end up visiting an Indian restaurant as I want to feel the vibe of India. And this time it was not different either, the day I landed in Dubai from Mumbai, I already made dinner plans with hubby to visit Dillicious, a North Indian restaurant specializing in food from the Indian capital Delhi.
Most of my friends were raving about the food in Dillicious which is located in the foodie hub of Karama. So I thought why not give it a try. Is the food worth trying? Read on..to find out!
The restaurant has a vibrant and Indian-inspired interiors. Loved the huge mural on the wall depicting all the iconic and historical buildings in Delhi like India Gate, Jama Masjid etc. The front of a truck placed in the center of the restaurant gives it a dhaba feel along with the Punjabi music playing in the loudspeaker.
After being seated, we were offered complimentary platter of Poppadum and Chaat Papdi. The Chaat was not that great, in fact we found it bland and lacking in flavor.
To drink we ordered their super refreshing Shikanji which is a perfect drink for summer.
Starters
As we are vegetarians we ordered only vegetarian dishes. They’ve good options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. We ordered two starters- Kurkura Tandoori Chaap and Seekh Kebab. Both the starters tasted deliciously different and they were packed with smoky and exquisite flavors.
Mains
We wanted to have something simple and light for our mains, so we ditched the usual paneer or aloo based dishes and instead ordered their signature dal Dhabha Ki Dal which had a medley of five dals garnished with ginger and coriander. The dal was served in a small pressure cooker and it was not only delicious, it was nutritious too.
Another dish we ordered was the mashed grilled smoked eggplant cooked in traditional spices which is known as Baigan Bharta. It was extremely tasty and had a homemade flavor.
Chur Chur Naan and Tandoori Roti that was prepared fresh in-house went very well with the dal and baigan.
Dessert
For dessert we tried two of their kulfis-Mangolicious Kulfi which had an outer crust of real mango with yummy kulfi inside. I have not had this kind of kulfi anywhere in Dubai. An absolute must-try. The Paan Kulfi was good too.
When we entered the restaurant, we didn’t expect much. But we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious and authentic food. It is a restaurant worth visiting and pocket friendly too.
