Movenpick Hotels and Resorts, the Swiss based hotel chain is showcasing a sophisticated salty vanilla menu or Vanille Salée in Movenpick hotels across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, following the concept’s success in Europe.
I was invited by Movenpick Hotel Jumeirah Lake Towers to savour their vanilla inspired creations at their nosh Restaurant.
Vanille Salée, their vanilla inspired menu is available from 21 February to 21 March 2017. It is served à la carte.
Vanilla which is also called as ‘queen of spices’ and traditionally used for desserts also pairs well with the savoury dishes. Movenpick has demonstrated this in six savoury flavors.
Here’s the Vanille Salée menu:
Savoury Vanilla starters
- White onion velouté soup
- Sashimi of tuna and salmon
- Goat cheese and fig salad
Savoury Vanilla main courses
- Nile perch and endive
- Veal tenderloin jardinière
- Guinea fowl breast melba
Savoury Vanilla dessert
- Hot apple pie
- Vanilla crème brûlée with fresh berries
All these dishes were served course wise-salad first, then soup, starter, mains and dessert. Being a vegetarian, I could only sample the vegetarian dishes. For mains, I ordered from their regular menu as there was no veg option available in their Vanille Salée menu.
We were served Goat cheese and fig salad first. It was a gorgeous looking salad with many ingredients thrown together in an orange-vanilla dressing. It not only looked great, tasted fantastic too.
White onion velouté soup that was served next, was our favorite dish from their Vanille Salée menu. It had white onion soup with vanilla cream, saffron thread, shallot chutney and onion rings. We liked the creative twist to the soup by adding shallot chutney and onion rings. It tasted beyond amazing.
We didn’t try the starter that was a sashimi platter and main course from their Vanille Salée menu as it was not vegetarian. Instead we tried 2 different types of pasta for our main course from their regular menu.
Hot apple pie and Vanilla crème brûlée with fresh berries were the two savoury Vanilla dessert that we sampled from their Vanille Salée. While the apple pie was okay, the vanilla crème brûlée was excellent. We couldn’t have enough of the vanilla crème brûlée. A definite must-try in their Vanille Salée menu.
Overall, we had an amazing experience. We liked their creative vanilla inspired dishes. Vanille Salée is a definite must-try for all Vanilla lovers and die-hard foodies.
