Dinner at the Homegrown Dining Concept-Roux

Roux
High-end casual dining concepts seems to be a rage in Dubai these days. The high-end casual dining restaurants not only offers high quality food, but they are easy on the wallets too. Roux is one such concept that opened couple of months ago.

Located in the stylish district of City Walk in Dubai, Roux is a homegrown restaurant, headed by Chef Chantel Naude.

According to Al Hashemi siblings, the founders of Roux:

Roux has been designed to be an inspiring oasis of calm.

True to their words, Roux is like an urban oasis inside the fast paced and bustling City Walk.

Locally sourced ingredients
The interiors of Roux is gorgeous with cosy seating area and beautiful lighting. This contemporary casual dining eatery has a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you are dining with family or friends, Roux is a perfect venue.

Their sumptuous menu offers something for everyone. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their menu offers a good range of sandwiches, desserts and specialty coffee.

I liked the fact that Roux sources all its ingredients locally. I was delighted to see the display of fresh produce in front of the entrance, close to the kitchen.

Loaded fries
We started off with drinks first. While my partner had a refreshing Cucumber Cooler to drink, I opted for their Rose Latte. I’ve had Rose Latte in quite a few cafes, but in Roux, it was bit of a disappointment as it had an overpowering flavor of rose.

We were offered a complimentary basket of bread with their homemade butter and olive paste.

For our starter, we ordered the Goat Cheese and Beetroot Salad. Fried goat cheese nuggets glazed with balsamic vinegar on a bed of grated beetroot and greens tasted good.

Next we ordered their much raved about Loaded Fries. Large portion of fries that were loaded with Parmesan cheese, parsley and jalapeño was served hot with two kinds of dips. Their Loaded Fries were loaded with amazing taste. And its so addictive that, you will go on eating even if you’re full.

When compared to non vegetarian dishes in their menu, vegetarian options are less. Next, we tried their Baked Eggplant topped with Spanish rice. This dish was such a surprise as it had a unique taste and flavor. We relished it.

Mushroom Cheese Melt was another simple and outstanding dish. It was loaded with ooey gooey cheese and soft chunks of mushroom.

We ordered Penne Pasta in Arrabiata Sauce for our main course. It was good and prepared just like the way we wanted it-spicy and well done.

Milk Cake
Milk Cake and Mango Panna Cotta were the two desserts that we ordered. The Milk Cake was creamy, fluffy and absolutely delicious, where as the Mango Panna Cotta was soft, tasty and incredibly delicious.

Our overall experience was great. The food, the service and the ambience was good. I would want to come back and try their breakfast or lunch menu.
