A weekend movie date with my kids at a mall was followed by gelato time at Morelli’s. I had always heard great things about Morelli’s Gelato‘s Sundaes and Morelli’s was on my ever growing list of must-visit places in Dubai and finally I got a chance to visit them and indulge in their fresh and delicious gelato.
Morelli’s Gelato was first started in 1907 by Giuseppe Morelli, an Italian emigrant in the UK. He first started selling the gelato from the back of his bicycle and then replaced it with van after the business grew. After that, his son Mario started the first ice cream parlour in the UK.
After the Morelli brand grew nationwide in UK, it was rolled out globally. Today Morelli’s Gelato is run by Bibi Morelli as the family moves into fifth generation.
Why is Morelli’s Gelato, one of the best in the world?
- It is made with 100 year old family recipe.
- It is produced daily on the premises in each and every store.
- Morelli’s Gelato is fresh Italian gelato of highest quality.

- Their gelatos are made with natural ingredients.
We visited their Dubai Mall outlet, the atmosphere of Morelli’s is very inviting. They offer a wide range of gelato from simple scoops to extravagant sundaes, banana split, chocolate fondue, fruit salad, waffles, crêpes and more.
They are also popular for their rich gelato shakes and hot drinks. Their menu also offers fresh juices and a good selection coffee and tea.
We ordered 3 of their indulgent Sundaes:
- Strawberry Sundae-Vanilla and strawberry gelato served with strawberry sauce, fresh strawberries and fresh whipped cream.
- Pistachio Delight-Pistachio and hazelnut gelato, served with soft vanilla gelato and cream, drizzled with magnum sauce, and mecrohe sauce in a chocolate cup, garnished with whole hazelnut, crushed pistachio and Morelli’s biscuit wafer.
- Bella Nutella-Soft vanilla, Nutella, chocolate and banana gelato served with fresh banana and Piemonte hazelnuts with Nutella sauce in a chocolate cup and fresh whipped cream.
We also sampled their festive inspired gelato sticks. Each and every gelato that we tried was rich, creamy and delicious. The quantity of the Sundae was huge for one person and it can be easily shared between two.
We ended our Gelato time at Morelli’s with the blissful Soft Vanilla Affogato. It is an espresso with a swril of soft vanilla gelato.
We had such a wonderful time at this gelato paradise that we can’t wait to come back.
