Pizza Express has been one of my favorite pizza chain, since the first time I visited them on a holiday to Hong Kong, many years ago. After moving to Dubai, it has been one of my regular places to visit for a good pizza. Pizza Express is a pizza chain from London, U.K. It has many outlets worldwide.
In Dubai they have 4 outlets and a licensed Jazz @PizzaExpress restaurant in JLT. Couple of months ago, they launched a brand new menu featuring gluten free options, homemade gelato, Hawaiian pizza and more. I couldn’t attend the launch, but recently I visited one of their outlets and sampled some of the new dishes in the menu.
I visited their Al Safa outlet in Jumeirah with my companion. This Pizza Express outlet is like all their other outlets, it has a stunning design, family friendly setting and uber chill vibes. The cosy seating, dim lights and wonderful music is the perfect set up for a great meal with family and friends. They also have an outdoor dining space.
We tried some of our old favorites as well as new dishes in the menu. First, we ordered a round of drinks. We ordered 2 of their refreshers: Tropical-fresh watermelon and pineapple juice topped with a slice of watermelon and Mint Cooler-fresh mint leaves with 7up and lemon juice. Both the drinks were delicious and refreshing.
As our starter, we ordered Baked Mushrooms, a perfect dish to start with, as we both are mushroom lovers. It had baked chestnut mushrooms stuffed with sun dried tomato and walnut tapenade, pesto Genovese and mozzarella. Topped with pepper and Parmesan and presented on a bed of wild rocket leaves, we relished this scrumptious starter.
Next, we tried their gluten free option from their new menu-Leggera Superfood Salad. This hearty salad had baby spinach, seasonal mixed leaves, baby mozzarella, butternut squash, beetroot, pine kernels, cucumber, lentils and fresh basil, dressed with balsamic syrup. The portion size was huge and the Leggera Superfood Salad comes totally recommended.
Giardiniera Pizza is my all time favorite pizza from Pizza Express and I cannot think of leaving the place without ordering it. Giardiniera is their signature vegetarian pizza. It is a thin crust pizza with a medley of veggies, mozzarella, fresh basil and pesto Genovese.
Penne Pepperonata con Bufala is a Penne pasta in a spicy tomato sauce with roasted peppers, cherry tomatoes and pitted black olives. It was topped with small chunks of buffalo mozzarella and fresh basil. It was fantastic and a definite must-try at Pizza Express.
They have many new addition to their dessert section of the menu. Loved the fact that they offer gluten free dessert option. We ordered their gluten free Chocolate Torte Sundae topped with vanilla gelato, caramel and chocolate sauce for dessert. It was presented in a cute jar garnished with whipped cream, crushed pistachios, mint leaves and a chocolate straw. The portion size is good for one person. Not only was it tasty, it was light too.
Pizza Express has never disappointed us, no wonder, we keep going back to it, again and again.
