The Time Of My Life by Cecelia Ahern

Fiction,Novel
I first came across Cecelia Ahern’s novel years ago when I read her first novel ‘PS, I Love You’.  I loved that book, recently while traveling I came across ‘The Time Of My Life’ in a bookstore in the airport, immediately picked it up to read it on my long flight.

Cecelia Ahern is an Irish novelist who has published several novels and contributed a number of short stories to various anthologies. She is also the creator and producer of the ABC comedy ‘Samantha Who?’.

The Time Of My Life is Cecelia Ahern’s eighth novel that was published in 2011. This novel is much more than the usual chick-lit, it is a touching, funny, warm and magical novel. This Cecelia Ahern’s novel explores what happens when you ignore your life.

The novel is about Lucy who is a nearly-thirty year old who has given up on life and lies. She is a lost and lonely person struggling to come to terms with the downward spiral in her life. Lucy and her journey with life is very poignant, it makes us reflect on our own lives.

Some of the quotes that I liked from The Time Of My Life:

” Life has a way of getting what it wants when it really knows what it wants.”

” You know, sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and yet it is still extremely funny.”

” You are responsible for your own life and what happens in it, so are the other people.”

” Dreams should make you think, ‘If I had the guts to do it and I didn’t care what anybody thought, this I what I’d really do’.”

” Nothing is never nothing. It’s always something.”
