I am always on a lookout for a place offering healthy food that tastes good too. When it comes to fast food outlets there are plenty of choices. But healthy food concept is very less in comparison. But I am glad that the healthy food concept is growing in UAE. Recently I came across one such place- Soulfull.
Soulfull is located at the Emirates Financial Tower,DIFC. They have couple of branches in Abu Dhabi and they also plan to open more branches. Soulfull is a home grown concept born in UAE.
The cafe is small and cosy. The decor is simple and minimalistic. The color combination of white and green in their interiors looks great. Loved the fact that the cafe is sparkling clean. The symbol of Soulfull is an artichoke and it is incorporated in most of the places-from the walls to the menu.
Philosophy of Soulfull: food for body, mind and soul.
The menu of Soulfull offers a lot of variety to both vegetarians and non vegetarians. They also have a kids menu. How was my experience at Soulfull? Let’s find out.
On a Tuesday evening I visited Soulfull with my husband and my daughter. After being seated, we were served drinks.
Mango Ginger Limonata had a combination of mango with zest of lemon and ginger. It was a refreshing drink.
Next to arrive was the soup. They serve lentil soup and they also have soup of the day, that keeps changing every day. We had the soup of the day- Asparagus and Mint Soup. The addition of mint was an unusual and tasty addition to the soup. We loved the rich and creamy asparagus and mint soup.
We also had Grilled veg & Halloumi Salad for our dinner. It had a medley of grilled veggies like zucchini, eggplant, mushroom, asparagus, cherry tomatoes with pears, lettuce and grilled halloumi. The lemon dressing went perfectly with this salad.
We had Pumpkin Falafel as our starter. The falafels made with pumpkin were not deep fried, but baked. It was such a joy to dip the falafel in the tasty mint tahina sauce. Pumpkin falafel was our favorite dish of our meal and comes totally recommended.
As for our mains, my daughter had the Penne Pomodoro and my hubby and I shared a Quinoa Biryani.
Penne Pomodoro was made with whole wheat penne and basic Pomodoro sauce. It was topped with Parmesan cheese.
Quinoa Biryani had a mix of veggies like baby marrow, baby corn, baby carrots, snow peas, sweet peas, edamame with cashew nuts, spices and quinoa. Addition of more spices would have made the quinoa biryani more delicious and aromatic.
Who says you cannot have healthy desserts? Soulfull offers nutritious and tasty desserts. We had the Raspberry Cake and Enery Protein bites.
Raspberry Cake is Soulfull’s healthy version of raspberry cheesecake. There is no cake as such in this version- it has digestive biscuit as a base and layers of raspberry and yogurt. We didn’t like it much, found it lumpy and tasteless.
We tried three varieties of Enery Protein bites- Dark chocolate, Matcha Protein and Cranberry Pistachio. We loved all the three of them, matcha flavor is a must-try. These bite sized energy protein bites packed a delicious punch.
Overall, we had a great dining experience. Soulfull offers healthy, nutritious and tasty food. Soulfull is a good option, if you are looking for a place offering healthy gourmet food. Soulfull offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in a pleasant atmosphere. Good food, good service and reasonable pricing. I wouldn’t mind going back again.
P.S. Soulfull also does home deliveries.
