Last month I was invited to discover the newest brunch in town, courtesy Zomato-Hypno Thai Brunch at Thiptara, The Palace Downtown. Needless to say I was excited to try out the latest brunch in town.
How different is it from the other Friday brunches in Dubai? Let’s find out!
Thiptara is located in The Palace Downtown. It has one of the best views of Dubai Fountain. Thiptara in Thai means ‘magic at the water’ and it’s aptly named. Surrounded by water, the setting is truly magical.
This spacious restaurant built in pagoda style has indoor and outdoor seating. The entrance itself is stunning with colorful statues of Buddha. The decor inside is minimalistic and Thai inspired. It is one of the most romantic restaurants in Dubai. A perfect place to spend anniversaries, romantic dates and Valentine’s Day or any special occasion.
The resident DJ set the party mode on with house music. Thiptara has huge glass windows overlooking the Dubai fountain. This waterfront restaurant is surrounded by the pristine blue Burj lake which was a visually pleasing sight.
We were about 40 of us, seated along 3 big tables. The most important part of the brunch-food. Was it as good as the ambience?
Hypno Thai brunch is not like those international brunches that offer various kinds of cuisine. Hypno Thai brunch offers exotic and authentic Thai cuisine. What you can expect is a Thai culinary (all-you-can-eat) feast.
Hypno Thai brunch that happens every Friday at Thiptara offers most of the favorite Thai dishes. The buffet section includes salads, starters and desserts. The main course can be chosen from their a la carte menu and it is directly served to your table.
We started off with drinks. There was a limited selection of drinks. There was botanical sodas, fresh juices, ginger iced tea, fresh coconut water, cider beer and sangria. They had both red and white sangria. I had the red one and it was awesome. All their other drinks were great too,as I heard most of my friends raving about their drinks.
Next I headed over to the buffet to get some salad. They had a good variety of salads and I tried most of the vegetarian ones and liked it. My favorite was the Som Tam Salad, the ever popular raw papaya salad. It was made right on the spot of the salad counter of the buffet.
As for the starters, I tried all the veggie options like Vegetarian Dimsums, Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Corn Fritters and Fried Tofu. Loved them all. They were well cooked, flavorful and delicious.
For the mains we vegetarians were served Stir-fried noodles, Green Curry and Jasmine Rice. Stir-fried noodles was a total letdown. The green curry and Jasmine rice was fantastic. Thiptara’s green curry is highly recommended.
Now for my favorite part of the brunch-Desserts! Hypno Thai brunch at Thiptara offers a wide range of desserts from international favorites to authentic Thai sweets. I am big sweet lover and tried a little bit of everything. All the dessert offering at Thiptara was excellent. The beautifully crafted desserts looked and tasted great. Some of my favorites were the Sticky Rice & Mango Pudding, Tab Tim Grob,Sago Pudding and Chocolate Brownie.
There was a big counter with a wide selection of fresh Thai fruits. I ended my brunch on a healthy note.
Overall, I had an awesome experience. The food, the ambience and the service was top notch. It is one of the few restaurants that I would want to come back again. Thiptara is one of the top Thai restaurants in Dubai and I definitely recommend it.
