Friday Brunch At Giardino-Palazzo Versace Dubai

Giardino Restaurant at Palazzo Versace is a new entrant to Dubai’s Friday brunch scene. It is located at the ground floor of the beautiful and classy Palazzo Versace Hotel. Giardino offers international buffet in it’s fashion inspired venue.

Couple of weeks ago I was invited to a Zomato Friday Brunch meet up at Giardino with other like minded foodies.

Giardino means garden in Italian, the ambience of the restaurant is like an urban garden. Green is the predominant color- you can see it on the walls, chairs and uniforms too. The decor is inspired by the Green Versace Dress worn by Jennifer Lopez at the 2000 Grammy Awards. The place looks vibrant and elegant.

Giardino restaurant is very spacious, it also has an expansive outdoor terrace. Throughout the brunch they have a DJ playing music. He was playing some fantastic house music and latest radio hits.

Diners at the brunch can also enjoy pool access- before or after the brunch. After the brunch you can still keep the party going and avail 50% off on drinks at La Vita bar next door.

Let’s discuss the main topic-Food. As they offer international cuisine they had the usual international favorites like Japanese, Italian, Indian, Middle Eastern, BBQ and Seafood. There were many live cooking stations and the usual bread, cheese, salad and dessert counter. My personal favorites were the Italian and dessert stations.

We were offered a glass of Prosecco as our welcome drink. We were also served a variety of cocktails at our table. I tried quite a few and especially liked the Bellini and Mojito.
I started off my brunch with a visit to the salad counter. The salad counter was okay, there was nothing exceptional.

The cheese counter was impressive and I got to try some amazing types of cheese.

The bread section had a good variety of freshly baked bread.

Next I went to the Japanese section for some sushi and sashimi. It was fantastic, no wonder this counter was such a hit with all the other guests.

Such a shame that I don’t eat seafood, Giardino’s brunch offers a wonderful array of seafood from oysters and lobsters to shrimps and scallops.

The Middle Eastern station was nothing great compared to the other Friday brunches in the city.

The Indian buffet counter was a bit of a disappointment though they had a good variety of Chaats, curries and sweets. I felt it was lacking in flavor and taste. The pani puri was quite good.

The BBQ live station had grilled lobsters, roasted lamb, roasted chicken and beef. I heard from my blogger friends that the grilled lobster was outstanding. I loved the potato gratin, it was delicious.

Italian station was the best. Except the pizza which was thick and bland, I liked everything else. I had one of the best Gnocchi ever. I tried different pasta dishes like Tortellini, Fusilli pasta with red sauce, Pacheri pasta with white sauce and red pumpkin lasagna. It was excellent.

Finally, it was time for my favorite part of the brunch-Dessert. They have a mind boggling variety of desserts. I tried most of them and loved them all. The desserts not only look gorgeous, they taste gorgeous too. My favorites were the tiramisu, chocolate brownie, Creme brûlée, dark chocolate fudge, raspberry profiteroles and sea salt caramel tart.

The ice cream trolley was the main highlight of the brunch. They serve ice creams with various toppings and sauce. I had the pistachio ice cream in a cone. They come and serve the ice cream at your table and you get to choose everything. How cool is that!

We ended the brunch with hot beverages like coffee and tea. Some of the bloggers opted for green tea. I had a hot cup of Italian filter coffee. It was refreshing.

Overall, it was a fun Friday afternoon with fellow foodies. The ambience is uber cool, the atmosphere is relaxed, the drinks are amazing and the food is good.(Indian and Middle Eastern food needs to be improved) If you fancy a luxurious Friday brunch in a stylish setting then Giardino at Palazzo Versace is the place for you.
