Sometime back I had won a lunch voucher through Instagram for Taverna restaurant. This voucher entitled me and my guest to free beach and pool access and an international buffet lunch at Taverna.
Taverna is located inside the beautiful Dubai Marine Resort and Spa, Jumeirah. Dubai Marine Resort and Spa has many restaurants and I have been to most of them, but it was my first visit to Taverna.
Taverna is open 24 hours all days of the week. This all day dining concept offers an international buffet. They also have A La Carte menu. They offer a Friday brunch as well.
As the kids were at home for winter holidays, I took them along for a relaxed lunch and some beach time.
Taverna is a nice restaurant, it is quite spacious. I loved the beautiful furniture. The atmosphere is relaxed and chilled out. It will immediately put you on a holiday mode.
They have a wide range of international selection of dishes. They have live cooking stations. After ordering a round of drinks from their A La Carte menu. We hit the buffet station to check out what Taverna had to offer.
The salad counter had an impressive selection of salads and Arabic cold Mezze. We liked the Quinoa salad, Beetroot and Feta cheese salad, Green salad and Potato salad.
We had Lentil soup and after that went to the bread counter. The bread counter had freshly baked bread. The variety of breads were amazing.
They had a live cooking station for kebabs. They were making Malai Kebab, Salmon Tikka, Chicken skewers and Grilled Veggie skewers.
As for the mains there was a variety of international dishes. We had the Spanish Paella with vegetables. There was a live cooking station for paella. The paella could have been cooked better. There was limited choice for vegetarians for both appetizers and main course.
The best counter we liked at the Taverna buffet was the dessert counter. We tried almost every dessert and liked most of them. There was fresh seasonal fruits, selection of homemade ice cream and cakes like Black Forest cake, Chocolate cake, Raspberry delight, Opera and Lemon Cream Cheese. The Chocolate Rice pudding, Profiteroles, Chocolate Fondant and Chocolate and Mandarin Verrine was absolutely divine.
Overall, we had a good dining experience. My one request to Taverna is to introduce more vegetarian dishes in their buffet.
