Manuscript found in Accra

“One day you will wake up and there won’t be any more time to do things you’ve always wanted. Do it now.”

This quote is from Brazilian author Paulo Coelho’s book  Manuscript Found in Accra. The book was published in 2012.

Paulo Coelho is known all over the world for his books. He has published thirty books. Everybody in some point of their life would have read his famous  book ‘The Alchemist’.

What I like about Paulo Coelho’s writing is that it is very simple and clear, he knows to connect very well with his readers. I gain  immense wisdom and enlightenment from some of his books. I can add “Manuscript Found in Accra” to that list of books.

The novel is set in 1099 in Jerusalem. The city is about to be invaded and inside the city, people of all ages, both men and women have gathered together to hear the wise words of a mysterious man known as the Copt.

At the start of every chapter the people ask a question and the Mysterious Greek answers them.

The people ask questions about everything like love, loyalty, wisdom, beauty, sex, fear, enemies and about their struggle, defeat and what the future holds. The questions are the kind which we ask to ourselves once in a while.

The answers are insightful, inspiring  and filled with wisdom. It is like you are on a philosophical and spiritual journey. Each and every page is filled with pure wisdom. It makes a huge impact on the reader.

I have read this book four times and each time I have learnt something different from the answers. This is one book you want to re-read it many times. It is an excellent book, easy to read and truly amazing. I strongly recommend ‘Manuscript Found in Accra.’

There are many beautiful thoughts and quotes in the book. Here are some of my favorites.

“It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.”

“There is no beauty in sameness, only in difference.”

“You will only be loved and respected if you love and respect yourself. Never try to please everyone: if you do, you Wil be respected by no one.”

“Only he who gives up is defeated. Everyone else is victorious.”
