It was a Friday evening and I had gone to Deira city centre for shopping with my family. After the shopping got over,we were wondering where to go for dinner? Then I suggested La Grotta at Al Khaleej Palace hotel at Baniyas.I had heard good reviews about the restaurant from other bloggers and had bookmarked it as one of the restaurants to visit. So I immediately called up the restaurant and booked a table for four.

La Grotta is an Italian restaurant specializing in Northern Italian Cuisine and regional cuisine with global influences. The dishes are inspired by the old traditional family recipes and are also creative enough to meet the contemporary times of today.

La Grotta is located at the heart of old Dubai.I feel a lot of amazing restaurants are located in the old part of Dubai.I used to frequent this wonderful old part years ago,but alas, these days I only concentrate on the new part of Dubai. It was refreshing to come this side and I have made a resolve to come to this side of the city more often.

La Grotta was refurbished recently and from ground floor,it has been relocated to 10th floor. The decor is very elegant, subtle and sophisticated.White and blue are the dominant colors. It has large windows with wonderful tapestry, beautiful chandelier and high ceiling beautifully hand painted in blue color. It has a romantic aura.

The restaurant is not very big,it is medium sized with the bar on the right side. They have an open kitchen concept and also has a wood fire oven.La Grotta is famous for wood fire oven pizza.

After the hustle bustle of a shopping mall,it was delightful to come to a quiet and serene restaurant.Hubby and myself ordered red wine and the kids ordered Kiwi mint cooler, which happens to be their signature mocktail. It was excellent and the kids were happy.Definitely recommend kiwi mint cooler.

The complimentary garlic bread was good.We ordered Legume pizza,it is vegetarian and has bellpeppers, mushrooms, olives sweet corn and onions. It was fresh, tasty and well made. The wood fire oven pizza are a must-have in La Grotta. We also ordered Tortellini Fromage with Asparagus. It was divine and they used fresh asparagus which were crunchy. We had Pasta trio,it was a three coloured pasta cooked with herb arromated tomato sauce. This also was amazing. We also ordered Mushroom risotto, which we found it to be too dry. When we mentioned this to the manager he immediately replaced it with perfectly made risotto. We ended our dinner with Mango Sorbet for dessert. It was superb.
The service is quick, efficient courteous and helpful. The wonderful staff is always there to assist you and entertain all your requests.La Grotta offers high quality and tasty Italian food.It is vegetarian friendly. They also offer grilled specialities along with pizza made on wood fire and amazing varities of pastas and mouth watering desserts and great decor to make your dining experience truly wonderful.I absolutely recommend La Grotta.
