Quirky and Funky Thai eatery at Wasl Square-Smiling BKK

 This  quirky Thai place will bring a huge smile on your face as soon as you enter it,I am asking myself,how did I miss coming to this place before?

Once you are inside the restaurant,you will pinch yourself asking, ‘am I in Dubai?’You are kind of transported to  a kitschy,art cafe in Bangkok.It has a very Hippy vibe to it.

Smiling BKK is located at Wasl Square near Safa park.They serve authentic Thai Cuisine.They specialize in Seafood.But they do offer vegetarian and other non-vegetarian dishes apart from seafood.

They have an extensive Menu,they have a very imaginative and creative mind to come up with funky names for their dishes.I would love to list some of their dishes.

1.Where is my mojo baby?

2.Roll over Beethoven 

3. I am sexy and I know it

4.Gimme Gimme,Gimme a man after midnight

5. Wax on

6.Babe in the city 

Many more such funky names.This place is filled with loads of fun.They keep a toy gun at every table to attract the attention of the staff.So if you require anything,just shoot.

 

The decor of the place is craziness married to fun and Kitschy chic meets creativity.It is one of a kind place in Dubai,art expression at it’s best.They have cardboard cutouts of Hollywood movie stars and pop stars.The place is vibrant,colourful with neon signs and Mona Lisa in different avatars.Smiling BKK is totally obsessed with Mona Lisa.

The beverage menu is very small and simple.We ordered cold lemongrass ,It was ok,nothing great.I suggest they add more variety to the beverage list.

The food menu is huge and extensive especially for the meat and seafood eaters.But they do have quite a few variety for vegetarians.We ordered the Papaya salad.It was good.we had crispy bags of gold(veg),It was very oily and didn’t like it.We ordered veg fried rice,green Thai curry and stir fried Tofu and bean sprouts in soy bean sauce.It was awesome.

It is better to suggest to them to make the food spicy or else even the medium spicy dishes tend to be on the sweet side.The portions are big,so we didn’t have room for dessert.The pricing is very reasonable.

Smiling BKK is a quirky and funky restaurant.The ambience is fun and artsy.The music is awesome,just like the atmosphere of the place.They serve classic and contempary Thai dishes.Don’t be surprised when they give you magazine page as a placemat.I had a whacky time.
