The Sum of Us is a newly opened cafe by the owners of Tom & Serg.It is located behind the newly opened Sheraton Grand,at the Burj Al Salam Residence Tower on Trade centre road.I had heard so much about this newly opened home-grown concept that I had to pay a visit and check it out.

The Sum of Us is very similar to Tom & Serg, for a moment I felt I am at Tom & Serg.It has a two-tier concept with minimalistic design, warehouse decor with open kitchen. The greenery around the place adds more charm. The Sum of Us is very informal and a great casual dining spot.It has a New York cafe style vibe to it.

The Sum of Us has a bakery and Roastery on the ground floor and an upper dining level as well. They also have an outdoor dining area.I have been a big fan of Tom & Serg and I had huge expectations when I came here. What a surprise,I ended up liking this place far more than Tom & Serg.

I visited,The Sum of Us twice. The first time,I just had a coffee and on my second visit I came for a lazy brunch to catch up with my friends. They have a Roastery and an expert Barista to help you to choose from different varieties of house-blend coffee.

The  Menu  is not extensive,it is short. They have homemade pies, sandwiches, wraps, salads, waffles, bagels, burger, risotto  and variety of eggs for breakfast like scrambled eggs, poached eggs and French toast.

The bakery section has homemade breads, croissants, muffins and cookies. They also have desserts like pavlova, brownie, lamingtons etc.The drinks menu offers their own amazing varieties of coffees, they also offer tea, fresh juices, milkshakes, smoothies and homemade cordials.

I had a cappuccino the first time and I must say it was made to perfection. They know their coffee well.Definitely coffee is highly recommended.

The second time myself and my friends tried their homemade cordials.I had the pear and currant cordial and my friends had the pomegranate one.It was very good and the best thing to have for the summer. We ordered the classic toasted sourdough Bread with organic butter and homemade jam.It was awesome and so was the chickpea fries with housemade lemon ketchup. We also had Quinoa falafel wrap and veggie Sanga.Again it was awesome. As we were already stuffed after having their delicious food.We decided to do a take away of their desserts,so that we can have it later.I took their brownie and passion fruit slice. Both were good, but don’t ever miss having the brownie. One of the tastiest and best brownies in town.

The service is top notch, friendly and helpful staff. The food is creative and tasty. The atmosphere is electric. The pricing is mid-range and worth every penny you are paying. The sum of this is a place to go anytime, whether for a coffee, breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.I have a feeling,it is going to be my new hang-out place.
