Salzburg has always fascinated me since my childhood.I am a big fan of the movie’The Sound of Music’.Salzburg is the place where the movie was shot.Since then,Salzburg had been one of my dream destinations and I thank my lucky stars that I was able to full fill my dream and I visited Salzburg three years ago.
Salzburg has been most famous for two things; Mozart and The Sound of music.Salzburg is the birthplace of Mozart,one of the best musician and composer of the classical era.But Salzburg has much more to offer.
Salzburg is located in Austria.It is some 300 odd kilometers from Vienna,the capital of Austria.The most convenient way to travel is to take a train from Vienna.That’s what we did.But there are other modes of transport like bus,rent-a-car or flights.There are many direct flights to Salzburg from different countries.
Salzburg is called as the Jewel in the crown of Austria.German is the official language of Austria and Euro is the currency.It is on the German border with views of Eastern Alps.The city is divided by the Salzach river,with medieval and baroque buildings of the Alstadt or the old city,on it’s left bank,and the 19th century Neustadt or new city on the right.Salzburg is so beautiful,it looks like a story book.It is filled with grandeur with baroque churches,cliff-top fortress,beautiful parks,amazing mountains
Salzburg is a family friendly place,there are lot of things to do for kids.Salzburg is a romantic place and a wonderful romantic weekend getaway destination.Salzburg can make a poet out of a nature lover with it’s beauty.

Mozart Souvenirs like CD’s,books,t-shirts etc and other souvenirs and chocolates are a must-buy.Austria has amazing coffee,enjoy a great cup of coffee anywhere in Salzburg,a visit to a cafe is a must.Enjoy the local food,and don’t forget to try the delicious Apple strudel and Sacher torte.The summers call for a visit to a Beer Garden or savour a freshly tapped beer in a Brewery.The beer is excellent.Salzburg is the beer capital of Austria.
Scenic,serene and beautiful Salzburg is a must-visit destination with it’s dreaming spires,green hills,romantic gardens and rivers and amazing architecture.I am totally enchanted by Salzburg and hope to visit Salzburg again.
