I’m a big foodie and always on a mission to try something new and different. Couple of days ago, I was invited to experience Sri Lankan Food Festival- Ceylon on a Plate at Silk Lantern restaurant and I felt like I was transported to Sri Lanka without boarding a plane.
Located in Jebel Ali Recreation Club in Jebel Ali, Dubai- Silk Lantern is a Pan-Asian restaurant rooted in the traditions of Asian kitchens. It draws inspiration from Asia’s rich culinary heritage, from the delicate precision of Japan, the timeless techniques of China, the bold spices of India, the vibrant flavors of Thailand and the soulful tastes of Tibet.
At Silk Lantern, dining is more than a meal- it is an immersive journey through Asia’s diverse culinary landscape.
The venue offers indoor and outdoor seating area with Asian-inspired elegant and inviting interiors. It is licensed and has a fully-stocked bar.
From 15th-24th May 2026 they are hosting a Sri Lankan Food Festival and the special menu is available throughout the day along with their à la carte menu.
Ceylon on a Plate is a celebration of flavors from different regions of Sri Lanka. From exquisite curries and coastal seafood favorites to iconic Lankan classics- everything is available in this special menu.
We started off with 2 Sri Lankan- inspired mocktails- Ceylon Citrus Spark and Coconut Cream & Pandan Dream. For starters there was Ceylon Beef Rolls and Vegetable Cutlets. We enjoyed a wide array of dishes for mains like seafood curries, roasted chicken, dal curry, Jackfruit curry, Kothu Rotti and more along with yellow rice and string hoppers.
Dessert was Watalappan, a coconut custard made with coconut milk, jaggery, eggs, cashews, spices like cardamom, clove and nutmeg, a delectable delicacy from Galle. It was a memorable meal, one that we will not forget in a hurry.
Ceylon on a Plate is a celebration of heritage, flavor and the culinary traditions that have shaped the island nation of Sri Lanka. We got to explore the many regions of the country through their cuisine.
