The Sultanate of Oman is situated in the Southeastern coast of the Arabian peninsula and shares border with UAE, Saudi Arabia and Yemen. It is one of the ruggedly beautiful countries in the Middle East that is rich in history, culture and nature.
I have visited Oman’s capital Muscat and Salalah in Dhofar province few years ago. Now finally my family and I visited Zighy Bay and stayed at Six Senses Zighy Bay resort which was in our bucket list.
Zighy Bay is a Two hour drive from Dubai. No visa is required and you just need a Border pass which the resort will organize. Currently you don’t require a PCR test to enter Oman, nor is it required while returning back to Dubai. Please check for the latest official travel guidelines to Oman before planning a holiday, as these guidelines are constantly being revised based on the pandemic situation.

We drove down from Dubai and it was a picturesque drive. When you reach Six Senses Zighy Bay, you can make a unique entry by arriving to the resort by Paraglide. The paragliding costs USD 195 per guest. As we are not into paragliding, we went by our 4-wheel drive.
When to visit Zighy Bay
The high season is October to May with activities such as hiking, biking and excursions. Warmer months from May to September offer indoor, water and evening activities in Musandam plus whale/shark watching from January to March.

About Six Senses Zighy Bay
Zighy Bay in Oman is the first Six Senses resort in Middle East. The 18 acres self-contained Zighy Bay is set on a 1 mile stretch of sandy beach with rugged mountains in the background and sea at the northern peninsula of Musandam.
The entire resort is inspired by the indigenous Omani culture and blended seamlessly with Six Senses brand experience. Our check-in and check-out was swift and hassle free.
The Six Senses brand is committed to sustainability and its obligation to the environment and community. They produce their own bottled water via reverse osmosis. The resort houses an on-site organic garden and showcases some of the best organic farming practices on their Dibba farm. You can expect farm-to-fork food.

Our 1-bedroom villa
All their villas and suites are built of natural stone and timber and comes with a private plunge pool. We stayed in villa 56 and it was close to the beach. Our Omani-style villa had cool and sublime interiors with colorful cushioned living area. The Bedroom had comfortable bed, separate shower area, toilet and a huge bathtub. There was a spa room and an outdoor bath area.
The highlight of our villa was the private plunge pool and patio. We spent most our time there and had our breakfast every morning. The 1-bedroom villa can house 5 adults.

Dining
We had a memorable dining experience at their restaurants especially at Wine Cellar where we had an intimate and interactive dinner with wine pairings. We also visited dining options like Summer House, Spice Market, Zighy Bar, Sense on the Edge and Shua Shack.
