The pocket-friendly foodie hub of Karama is my go-to place for comfort food and street food in Dubai. Recently I came across an eatery named Sadak Chaap through Instagram and took a trip down to Karama to try it.
Sadak Chaap is a dhaba-style North Indian restaurant that specializes in soya based dishes. Dhabas are roadside restaurants in Indian subcontinent. They are on the highways and generally serve local food.
Sadak Chaap is a vegetarian restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their menu features chaats, starters, mains, desserts along with hot and cold beverages. They serve a wide range of dishes made with soya. So if you’re looking for a restaurant in Dubai with a lot of soya options, then you have to head over here.
The setting of the venue transported us to a roadside dhaba in Punjab, India. The design of the menu, tableware, the seating area and the music gave it an authentic touch.
We started off with with their refreshing drinks Sadak Chaas and Modi Shikanji. Our culinary adventure began with Mukhband, that is Pani Puri in different flavors.
Next we had the spicy Lollipop Chaap which was juicy, succulent and packed with flavor. This is one vegan dish which any meat eater will like as it has the same meat texture and taste.
For our main course we had Punjabi Chaap and Biryani Chaap. The Punjabi Chaap was a rich and creamy gravy with a slight touch of sweetness and spiciness. It was served with freshly made Lachha Paratha.
We enjoyed the Biryani Chaap too. It was delicious and was served along with Raita. Dessert was Matka Kulfi, a frozen traditional ice cream served in a clay cup. I wish it was fresh.
Our overall experience at Sadak Chaap was good. The food, the drinks, the atmosphere and the service was great. The pricing is reasonable and affordable. They also do deliveries.
