I love Mexican cuisine and Tortuga has been my favorite venue for authentic Mexican food and margaritas. Over the years I’ve visited Tortuga many times and they’ve never disappointed me. Last week I visited them for dinner after a very long time and I must say it is still one of the best Mexican restaurants in Dubai.
Tucked away in the lower level of Mina A’ Salam, Tortuga is a spacious, rustic and vibrant venue with indoor and outdoor dining area. The Mexican-inspired indoor space is colorful and lovely. Their well-stocked bar inside is super cool and they also have ample space for their live band.
We sat in their outdoor terrace as the weather in Dubai is beautiful at the moment. The view from the terrace of the man-made waterways is stunning.
A visit to Tortuga is incomplete without having their awesome cocktails and we ordered a frozen Hibiscus Margarita and El Diablo. Both the refreshing cocktails were mixed well.
While we were sipping on our drinks, we were offered complimentary Corn Chips and Dips. Their food menu features a range of authentic Mexican dishes as well as few Tex-Mex classics. It is also vegetarian friendly. As a vegetarian I was happy with the options.
As our appetizer we ordered the Pico de Gallo Salad and Guacamole Traditional. The pico de gallo salad was garden fresh and light. Served inside a pineapple shell, it not only looked gorgeous, tasted rich in flavor too. The guacamole was made fresh in front of us and it was so addictive that we had to order again.
For mains we had Veggie Taco, Fajitas with grilled veggies and Mexican Rice. The traditional style tacos were delectable and we enjoyed the fajitas too. The fajitas with grilled veggies were served with homemade guacamole, sour cream, salsa and warm flour tortillas.
Dessert was a divine affair and the Churros tasted heavenly. A definite must-try.
Our dining experience at Tortuga was excellent. The drinks, the food, the atmosphere, the service and the music was incredible. If you love Mexican food and Mexican traditional cocktails, Tortuga is a place not to be missed.
