Finally a Vada Pav/Pao/buns concept in Dubai that got us saying What-A-Pao. Say hello to O’Pao the newest eatery in town that elevates the Mumbai’s popular street food, Vada Pao to the next level.
Situated in the busy and buzzy foodie district of Karama in Dubai, O’Pao serves up sliders with an Indian twist. Inspired by Mumbai’s iconic Vada Pao, their sliders are served in a riot of Indian flavors.
This cute little restaurant is cosy, charming and colorful. The highlight of the venue is the vibrant mural of city of Mumbai. Though the restaurant is tiny, the setting and the tableware is done tastefully.
The menu is small and easy to order. There are veg and non veg Paos, sides, desserts, cold and hot beverages. They’ll be introducing new additions to the menu soon.
We started off with refreshing Masala Thumbs Up and Watermelon Juice. Being vegetarians, we only ordered the veggie Paos. Below is the list of dishes that we ordered:
Sides
Kanda Bhaji is a deep fried onion fritters. At O’Pao it was crispy, non oily and oh-so-delicious. The crunchy Kurkuri Bhindi was also very tasty. Both the sides are worth ordering. They also have sides like masala fries, sweet potato fries and cheesy poppers.
Paos
It was time to order Paos and we tried four of their Paos from the menu. They make two kinds of Pao/bun, one is the usual bun or Desi Pao and the other one is Firangi Pao made with 60% potato. All the Paos are served with their signature chatpata twisties.
O’Vada Pao is the classic and traditional Mumbai style Vada Pao. It had the authentic taste and flavor that you’ll get in the streets of Mumbai.
O’Chili Cheese Pao is an open-faced toasted Paos with cheese and chilies. It was simple, spicy and super yum.
Loaded with goodness O’Paneer Bhurjee Pao was our favorite and comes totally recommended. A Pao not to be missed.
O’Schezwan Maggi Pao was the only Pao that we did not like as we felt that the combination of Maggi noodles with Pao didn’t work well and the flavors were lost.
Dessert
O’Pao French Toast was a delightful surprise that had us asking for more. It was served with butterscotch ice cream, custard sauce and Lotus biscuit crumbs.
We ended our meal with cool and creamy Desi Cold Coffee.
Our experience at O’Pao was wonderful. The taste, the flavor and the quality of the food was on point. It was matched by flawless service and lively atmosphere. The pricing is reasonable and affordable. O’Pao is a must-visit place for all foodies.
