Best time in Dubai for al fresco dining as winter has announced its arrival. The small restaurants at Century Village in Garhoud has always held a prime place as my family’s go-to destination for outdoor dining.
Yesterday afternoon we visited the award-winning Sushi Sushi in Century Village for lunch. Sushi Sushi is a quaint little Japanese restaurant and bar that has been around for a very long time.
Sushi Sushi though mainly a Japanese restaurant, has an extensive menu that also features many oriental classics. The vegetarian in me was thrilled to find a wide range of veggie options.
The settings of Sushi Sushi is simple, minimalistic and cosy with indoor and outdoor seating area. We dined al fresco as the weather was good in the noon.
After ordering couple of Drinks, we ordered steamed Edamame and crispy Mixed Vegetable Tempura as our appetizer.
Next we tried, Veggie Volcano which is new in their menu. Every bite of this mildly spicy veggie volcano was bursting with terrific flavor and amazing taste. It was our favorite among all the dishes that we tried at Sushi Sushi.
The Veggie Sushi Platter we ordered had a good selection of sushi and sashimi. The beautifully plated platter consisted of mango, asparagus and avocado sushi and sashimi that was freshly rolled to perfection.
Ramen Noodle Soup with garden fresh vegetables was rich, flavorful and comforting.
For our main course we had the classic Japanese Yaki Soba Noodles that was served with a side of salad and miso soup. We loved it.
The Vegetable Katsu Curry with Fried Tofu served with Rice was another outstanding dish. It was a hearty and tasty dish packed with authentic flavor.
We also ordered the lightly seasoned vegetable Fried Rice.
Though we were full, we couldn’t resist ordering Ginger and Green Tea Ice Cream for dessert. The green tea ice cream was okay, but the ginger ice cream was extremely good. It was one of the creamiest ice cream that I’ve eaten and liked the strong stem ginger flavor.
Our first visit to the 17 year old restaurant and it will certainly not be the last. We enjoyed our dining experience at Sushi Sushi and hope to come back soon.
