It has been a long time since I visited La Mer in Jumeirah and as the weather is getting cooler at this time of the year, I decided to catch up with a friend for al fresco lunch at the popular Zouzou Restaurant.
Zouzou is located in the South of La Mer and serves Turkish and Lebanese food. Open from morning till late in the night, it offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu is vast and varied, but for vegetarians like me, the options are limited.
The modern interiors of Zouzou is colorful, chic and charming. The spacious venue has indoor and outdoor dining area with spectacular beach view. On a weekday early afternoon, it was busy but not too crowded. Zouzou is a perfect spot to catch up with friends or have a meal with the family.
Their beverage menu has a good selection of juices, mocktails, milkshakes, ice coffees and hot drinks. We tried the smoky flavored mocktail- Grilled Pineapple Lime. It was super refreshing.
Few of the dishes we tried were:
Zouzou Mixed Platter- It was a cold mezze platter and consisted of hummus, eggplant salad, muhammara, Acili Ezme, Cacik and vine leaves. Zouzou Mixed Platter is a meal in itself as it had a delicious and flavorful selection of mezze favorites, we especially loved the Turkish salads.
Warm, fluffy and freshly baked Turkish Bread went perfectly well with the Zouzou Mixed Platter.
I never fail to order Pide, the Turkish bread traditionally cooked in a hot clay oven when I am dining at a Turkish restaurant. At Zouzou, we ordered the comforting Potato Pide. It would have been great if it was a bit more spicy nevertheless it was delicious.
Next we had the Bulgur Pilaf. It had a healthy and tasty combination of bulgur, tomato, peppers, onion with spices.
It was time for our favorite part of our meal, yes…dessert of course! We tried two of their desserts- Kunafa with cream was utterly delightful and moreish. Baklava with ice cream was not very fresh. I’ve eaten better baklava in other Turkish restaurants in Dubai.
We ended our lunch with a cup of authentic and fragrant Turkish Tea served in a little tulip-shaped glass.
Overall, we enjoyed our lunch at Zouzou, the beautiful beachfront dining spot in La Mer. The food, the drinks, the service and the atmosphere was good.
