I need to eat more healthy food. Yes, we all need to eat healthy. According to my experience, healthy food especially in a restaurant can be pretty boring and that is the reason I rarely visit healthy food cafes. I prefer whipping up something healthy and delicious at home.
Last week, I had to meet a friend in Bay Square and while we were scouting for a place to eat, we chanced upon Under500 and decided to have lunch there.
Under500 is a homegrown healthy food concept with four branches currently, with more branches to open later. Here’s the concept of Under500 according their team:
We’re young, full of energy, ambition and good intentions. We believe that healthy can be fun, and delicious can be guiltless. That’s why we’re turning an entire industry on its head and changing the way communities view healthy eating, by serving food that’s freshly made to order and under 500 calories.
The Bay Square outlet is a small and clean place with comfortable seating and good natural light. Their menu is simple and easy to order. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We started with four of their cold press juices-Lean Green, Tropical Orange, Beat Blast and Grapefruit Mint. Their hydrating drinks were not only healthy but refreshing too. Our favorite was Lean Green.
Next, we had the Kale & Lentil Soup which had distinct and delightful flavors. Nutritious kale and lentil soup made with fresh tomato, onion and carrot is a must-try.
I’m a kind of person who love to have Açaí Bowl any time of the day, so naturally I ordered their Açaí Bowl. Not only did it look pretty, tasted utterly delightful too.
Under500’s menu also has salads, soups, Super Bowls, burgers, wraps, mains and desserts. Whether you are a vegan, vegetarian or a non vegetarian-Under500 has it covered. As we were in a mood for very healthy food, we had two vegan dishes for our mains.
The Loaded Sweet Potato had baked sweet potato topped with spiced five-bean chili and fresh jalapeños. It was spicy, comforting and loaded with great taste.
Wholesome and delicious Spicy Lentil Ragu had a combination of puy lentils, garlic, mushroom, leek and tomato that was slowly braised and served on a bed of wild rice.
To indulge in our sweet cravings, we had the divine tasting Slimmed-Down Brownie. We also tried their Peanut Butter Surprise which we didn’t like as there was no peanut butter taste or flavor.
Under500 really surprised us with amazing food. Their healthy food is not only nutritious and healthy, but super delicious too. We loved our lunch. Under500 is one of the few healthy cafes that we have liked in Dubai and comes highly recommended.
