Last week I got an opportunity to celebrate the subtle mix of cream and chocolate from starters to dessert, at an exclusive Black & White Dinner hosted by the French Dairy Board in partnership with Valrhona chocolatier.
The recipe book “La Crème de la Crème” a dessert recipe book featuring 11 of the most talented pastry chefs in the Middle East and Asia was also officially unveiled.
The venue for this exclusive event was at the creative platform Inked located in the art district of Alserkal Avenue. Interestingly, the dress code for the evening was black and white.
Attended by well known food bloggers and influencers of Dubai, it was an amazing evening and one of the best meals I’ve had in Dubai off-late.
The engaging, food-led experience started with cocktails/mocktails with a hint of cream and chocolate. The five-course dinner had cream and chocolate in every dish.
Dishes included poached scallop with Opalys cream emulsion, chicken and foie gras ravioli with chocolate jus, slow cooked cacao and spices coated beef tenderloin sprinkled with reduced cream and chocolate jus, nitro passion fruit meringue and variations of cocoa tart.
As a vegetarian, I was served alternative vegetarian dishes for the first 3-courses. Each and every dish was plated to perfection and tasted incredibly good, never knew the combination of chocolate and cream could work so well.
The bitter taste of chocolate paired with the lightness of the cream created a fantastic combination. And not to forget that, it was all possible due to the high quality French cream and the best cocoa beans.
It was a memorable experience with like-minded foodies with great food and creative drinks in a sublime settings.
