Just back from a long holiday and I still keep remembering about my dining experience at Babel. I think it is time to pay them a visit again. What is so special about Babel that has left a lasting impression on me? To find out, read on….
Babel is the brand new progressive Lebanese restaurant that is located in La Mer Dubai. It was first established in 2009 in Dbayeh, Lebanon and it now has 3 branches in Lebanon as well as one in Kuwait and their latest branch opened in Dubai recently.
The concept of Babel Restaurant according to team Babel:
When first thinking of Babel, the concept was to bear resemblance to its surrounding culture, molding our know-how to adapt and integrate the habits of the culture with our culture.
When it was born, Babel was a place identified by authenticity, uniqueness and creativity. Perfection and progressiveness was our standard for designing the journey, while remaining well-rooted in our culture. Babel’s journey is built based on attention to details, seeking perfection and that via sourcing the best Lebanese ingredients.
Babel is a waterfront property with two levels of dining space. The outdoor area features a terrace. Shisha enthusiasts can enjoy shisha at the terrace. Babel is a perfect spot for a romantic dinner as well as get-to-together with family and friends.
Loved the minimalistic decor of the restaurant, that has a understated elegance. The ground floor features a seafood bar where as the upper floor features a drinks bar.
After being seated, we were served homemade Bread along with Dips, Green Olives and Nuts. From their drinks menu, we ordered a glass of Lebanese Wine.
Being vegetarians, we only ordered vegetarian food and I must say, we were not disappointed with their veg options.
Some of the dishes we tried were:
Super refreshing Rocket & Yogurt Salad with nuts.
We ditched the classic Hummus and went in for Hummus Pesto with walnuts. It was not only healthy but creamy and delicious too.
For the very first time we tried Farket Quinoa which had a unique taste and flavor. A must-try cold mezze dish in Babel.
The smoky flavored eggplant and tomato based Raheb was amazing.
Next, we had the simple and nutritious Hendbeh.
The stuffed Grape Leaves were tasty and fragrant.
The Chili Potatoes from their hot mezze selection was crispy, spicy and utterly delightful.
We also liked their Spinach Fatayer, it is a good hot mezze option for vegetarians and vegans.
We were served warm, round and fluffy Lebanese Bread to go with our meal.
Dessert was an indulgent and sweet affair. We tried Jazrieh, Jam Assortment(a selection of fig jam, date jam, pumpkin jam and bitter orange jam) and Seasonal Fruits. We ended our lunch with a cup of freshly brewed Arabic Coffee.
The Babel experience was incredible. The food, the drinks, the hospitality, the service and the atmosphere was outstanding. No wonder, I can’t wait to visit again.
