If you think Dubai is home to just high end fancy restaurants and cafes that leave a hole in your pocket, then you are totally wrong. Dubai has many hidden gems that might not have chic decor but offer very good food that is reasonably priced.
Recently, I came across one such place unexpectedly. I was searching online to order food with pocket-friendly pricing and then discovered The Desi Circle.
As the name suggests, Th Desi Circle offers Desi food. Desi is a person of Indian, Pakistani or Bangladeshi origin who lives abroad.
The Desi Circle’s menu features Indian street food as well as dishes from North Indian and South Indian cuisine. You can expect snacks, mini meals, sandwiches, rolls, burgers, hotdogs, momos, dosas, parathas and beverages.
I haven’t been to the restaurant, so I cannot comment about the location or the interiors. But my order came on time. Here is the list of dishes that I ordered from The Desi Circle:
- To drink we ordered Masala Chaas, a spiced buttermilk that was light, refreshing and flavorful. We also ordered Oreo Milkshake which was rich and creamy.
- Pav Bhaji Cheese Sandwich was utterly delicious. It was made with sliced bread instead of Pav and it was convenient to eat too. You have an option to choose from white or brown bread.
- Dal Pakwan is a classic Sindhi breakfast recipe that consists of Chana Dal and crisp fried Puris. The Dal Pakwan from The Desi Circle had an authentic flavor and taste. We enjoyed it.
- The Aloo Paratha was way too spicy with too much green chilies. We didn’t like the Paratha. It came along with Kaali Dal and Dahi.
We paid just AED 57 for this. The quantity and quality of the food was good, the pricing is very reasonable and affordable.
