Cooking Masterclass at Khyber- Dukes Dubai Hotel

Khyber Dubai

Last week of March, I was back at Khyber Dubai, the North Indian restaurant at Dukes Dubai Hotel. And this time to attend a cooking masterclass. It was a delightful afternoon where I met fellow food lovers and learnt few classic North Indian dishes, followed by a delicious lunch.

Set in the 15th floor of the uber cool Dukes Dubai Hotel, Khyber offers authentic Indian cuisine in a beautiful setting. The spectacular panoramic views enhances the overall dining experience.

Khyber Dubai is the first international outpost of the legendary Khyber Mumbai, which has been in business for over 60 years. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner Mr.Sudheer Bahl, who regaled us with stories of Khyber Mumbai and the celebrities who had visited the venue.

Chef Amol Patil

Chef Amol Patil, the head chef of Khyber Mumbai along with chef Faizan Ali,the head chef of Khyber Dubai took the cooking masterclass. They taught us some of the classic and most popular dishes of Khyber.

From starter to main course and dessert, the chefs had it covered. The dishes they taught us were Tandoori Fish Tikka, Butter Chicken, Chana Masala, Tandoori Naan, Saffron Pulao and Phirni.

The vegetarian in me was happy to note that Fish Tikka and Butter Chicken can be recreated with veggies and cottage cheese. Both the chefs taught us in such a simple and easy manner that I’ll certainly try making those dishes at home.

As soon as we arrived we were offered welcome drinks. Our masterclass was followed by lunch. We got to try the dishes taught at the masterclass. All the dishes were paired with Sula Indian wine from Nashik region in Maharashtra. As a vegetarian, I didn’t try the Fish Tikka and the Butter Chicken, instead they offered me Paneer Tikka and Vegetable Curry.

It was a lovely afternoon with delicious and traditional Indian food, good wine, great company, wonderful atmosphere and we also got to learn amazing dishes from the experts in the field.

Special thanks to Mr. Sudheer Bahl, Chef Amol Patil, Chef Faizan Ali, Ms. Nathalie Visele and the entire team of Khyber Dubai for hosting us. It was an incredible and memorable afternoon.
