Since the time Bertin Bistro opened, I’ve been planning to visit them. But somehow I never got around to it. My friends always kept raving about this bistro, especially their breakfast. Bertin recently launched a new menu and I decided to pay them a visit and try their new menu.
Bertin Bistro is a French bistro, bakery and cafe located in Al Manara Street in Sheikh Zayed Road. Bertin Bistro is housed in the ground floor of a two-storied building and upstairs is Andalusia, a Moroccan and Mediterranean restaurant and Shisha lounge.
The French inspired interiors of the place looks elegant and gorgeous. The beautiful marble tiled floor, vintage style furniture, alluring cutlery and natural lighting makes it an inviting place. Bertin is a great place to catch up with a friend or to just work with your laptop and its good for family meals too.
Their bakery section is filled with a variety of bread, cakes, pastries and sweet treats. Their Pain Perdu is supposed to be one of the best in town.
Before we ordered the food, we ordered our drinks first. They have new addition to their drinks menu too. We ordered 2 of their signature mocktails- Passionate Chili a passion fruit and chili based spicy drink and Lady in Red, an exotic drink with lychee, raspberries and fragrant rose water. Both our drinks were well made and refreshing.
Next we were offered a complimentary basket of freshly baked Bread which came straight from the oven. We had it with the butter and it just melted in our mouth.
As our starters we had Avocado & Rocca Salad, Potato Wedges and Croque Monsieur. The salad was very light, healthy and tasty. The sprinkling of sumac powder gave it an amazing flavor. As for the potato wedges, it is a simple dish and you cannot go wrong with that. As we are vegetarians, we asked them to make a slight change to the Croque Monsieur and instead of ham, we asked them to add mushroom. It was not a good idea as it lost all its cheese flavor. The sandwich would have been better with just cheese. So I learnt a lesson, next time I’ll order it with cheese.
For our main course we ordered Creamy Rigatoni, Mascarpone cheese filling inside Rigatoni pasta, served on sweet and creamy combination of caramelized onion and cream sauce. But our favorite was the moreish Truffle Green Peas Risotto. It had a delicious combination of mushrooms, green peas, truffle oil and Parmesan cheese. A definite must-try at Bertin.
Bertin Bistro’s quantity is generous and we were already stuffed so we decided to have a light dessert. And that’s how we ended up ordering their unique Tahini Fondant. It is not too sweet and we loved the sesame twist to the dessert.
We ended our lunch with the aromatic and floral Rose Latte that was served in a tall glass cup with real rose petals on the top.
Our overall lunch experience at Bertin Bistro was wonderful. The food, the drinks, the service and the atmosphere was good. I’ll head back again for breakfast.
