Recently, there has been an explosion of Italian restaurants in Dubai food scene. Every week there are Italian restaurants popping up all over the city. I can’t be more happier with this development as Italian cuisine is one of my favorite cuisines.
One such new restaurant to open in the city is Alloro Italian Ristorante, a brand new homegrown concept that brings the essence of Italian food from the region of Tuscany in Italy to Dubai.
Alloro is located within the Wyndham Dubai Marina Hotel in the swanky Dubai Marina district. This restaurant is inspired by a team of foodies that believe ‘There’s a little Italian in all of us’.
Alloro is a spacious restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining area. The restaurant has a homey and relaxed vibe. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we felt at home.
Loved the dim lighting, potted plants, soothing color theme of the interiors and comfortable seating area. Italian music in the background enhanced the atmosphere of the restaurant.
After being seated in the cosy corner of the restaurant, we were handed their menu. Alloro ‘s menu offers a good variety of Italian starters, salads, soups, mains and desserts.
But drinks first! And we started with a glass of Italian Wine. Their drinks menu offers a range of wines, cocktails, mocktails, fresh juices and other spirits.
For starters we ordered Chef’s Burrata and Focaccia. Their Burrata was one of the freshest I’ve had in a long time. It was accompanied with green asparagus, cherry tomatoes, arugula, basil and chili gremolata.
Alloro offers a good variety of focaccia bread and we ordered focaccia with cherry tomato, basil, shavings of Parmesan cheese and extra virgin olive oil. The focaccia bread was crisp from the outside and soft from the inside. It was light and tasty.
It was time to order our mains and we ordered Pasta Pomodoro, Gratinated Gnocchi and Grilled Vegetable Salad as our side dish.
Pasta Pomodoro was simple, fresh and tangy that was delicious and well made. The Gratinated Gnocchi was on the heavier side. It had homemade potato and beetroot dumplings in a creamy sauce with balsamic shallots and basil. It was topped with roasted pine seeds. The portion size was big and could be shared between 2-3 people.
Now for the favorite part of our dinner which is the dessert. We ordered two of their unique and deliciously different desserts- Matcha & White Chocolate Panna Cotta and Nutella & Ricotta Ravioli.
As a matcha fanatic, I loved their panna cotta that was flavored with matcha tea and white chocolate. It was served with raspberry ragout and mint. The Nutella and Ricotta filled ravioli was served with mixed berries and whipped vanilla custard. We relished both of these desserts.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Alloro. A great new Italian restaurant in Dubai with good food, pleasant atmosphere and flawless service. Can’t wait to take my family to this restaurant.
