State 88 – New Sandwich Cafe in City Walk Dubai

State 88 in City Walk Dubai
City Walk in Dubai is home to some of the amazing eateries in town. State 88, a new American Cafe that specializes in sandwiches has opened recently and last evening, I visited them to grab a quick bite. And I must say, Its a great new addition to the restaurant/cafe scene in City Walk.

Conveniently located at the start of City Walk, State 88 is a cafe that will draw your attention with its funky and chic decor. It reminded me of the industrial-inspired eateries of the cool meat-packing district of New York.

Dining in City Walk Dubai
This charming little cafe offers indoor and outdoor dining space. The interiors of the cafe is tastefully done from lighting to seating to tableware and menu. It has a cool and friendly vibe. And the latest radio hits in the background enhanced our dining experience.

State 88’s menu is simple and straight to the point. They offer a variety of sandwiches along with salads, fries, desserts, milkshakes, juices, hot and cold beverages.

The meat lovers have many great options, vegetarians won’t be disappointed too, as they have two varieties of veg sandwich and couple of rolls or wraps.

Before I start about my veggie perspective of the dining experience at State 88, hear what the team of State 88 have to say about their concept:

Food should be delicious, fulfilling and heartwarming. Guided by this philosophy we produce food using handpicked ingredients and prepare them with great care to bring out the best in flavor, from slowly cooking meat to smoking food to homemade sauces and dressings. The outcome is seriously good food.

Drinks

Nitro ice tea

We started off with drinks first. My young teen, loved their rich and moreish milkshake Nut About You. It had vanilla ice cream mixed with hazelnut paste.

I ordered their Nitro Ice Tea, a bold, deep and richly flavored ruby red Assam ice tea that sparkles in your mouth after 72 hours of Nitrogen infusion. This tea was served fresh and chilled. It was a fabulous delight for a tea connoisseur like me. A definite must-try.

Food

Lentil salad

We started off with a light and fresh salad called Gentle Lentil. It had crunchy green lentils, carrots, celery with roasted seeds dressed in lemon vinaigrette.

We ditched the regular potato fries and went for the healthier oven baked Sweet Potato Fries that was utterly delicious.

All their food is slow cooked, baked or grilled. Their sandwiches are made with soft buns.

Halloumi wrap
Coming to the sandwiches, we ordered both their veggie options- Goat 88 and Veggie Cool. Wish that spring onion salsa had more sharp taste and flavor in the Goat 88, as this sandwich didn’t tickle our taste buds. But we loved their Veggie Cool which had roasted peppers, chickpeas and smoked eggplant with dried tomato aioli.

One of the standout dishes of our dinner at State 88 was the Halloumi Stop. I can’t even find words to describe this amazing roll. This delectable roll was stuffed with Halloumi cheese, fig preserve, smoked eggplant and grenadine molasses. It can be had anytime.

We ended our dinner with their very own  Lotus Ice Cream that was made in-store and it was delicious.

Overall, we enjoyed our meal at State 88. The portion size is perfect, the pricing is reasonable and affordable. The food, the drinks, the service and the ambience is great.
