One more restaurant ticked off my Dubai restaurant bucket list. I was supposed to visit The Croft couple of years ago with my blogger buddies, but at the last minute I had to cancel it as I fell sick. So glad that I finally visited The Croft.
The Croft Restaurant & Terrace is located in the Dubai Marriott Hotel & Suites in Dubai Marina. The Croft is the brainchild of Chef Darren Velvick(who has previously worked with Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wareing).
Inspired by Darren’s childhood upbringing in a rural country English village, the decor of The Croft is themed like a rustic farmhouse. Loved the homey and cosy vibe from the moment we entered the place.
Right at the entrance was a shoe rack with long Wellington boots filled with flowers and umbrellas. The indoor area consisted of an open kitchen, dining area and playroom with a fireplace and snooker table.
The outdoor garden and terrace reminded me of European beer gardens. The Croft oozes earthy charm. It is complimented by wonderful and down to earth staff, right from the chef, manager to the servers.
Being vegetarians, we only sampled the vegetarian dishes. After ordering a bottle of Grape, we ordered appetizers.
We were also offered a complimentary basket of freshly baked Bread.
For our appetizers, we tried a variety of starters prepared by Darren. First to arrive at our table was the crispy Cauliflower Tempura with Unagi sauce with sesame.
Next was the hubby’s favorite Yellow Lentil Falafel with red pepper purée, shallot, cucumber and mint. I could only taste a tiny bit of it as the hubby devoured the whole thing off. Needless to say, it was amazing.
As a huge lover of all things with mushroom, I liked their crispy Mushrooms with garlic aioli.
The Goat’s Cheese Salad with pickled beetroot, pear, hazelnut crumb and watercress had a great flavor and taste.
Onion & Tunworth Cheese Tart had a melt-in-your-mouth quality to it.
For our mains, we ordered the Leek & Cheddar Croquettes and Mushroom Risotto. The delicious Leek & Cheddar croquettes were served on a bed of mashed potatoes slathered with mustard sauce.
The rich and creamy Mushroom Risotto was topped with a crispy egg which added a delicious punch to the risotto.
They have a good selection of desserts. we ordered two of them-Neat & Tidy and Peanut choc-Ice. Both the desserts were deliciously different.
Neat & Tidy was Darren’s creative version of the classic British dessert Eton Mess. It consisted of a huge pink meringue filled with elderflower cream and served with raspberry coulis, fresh raspberries, mint and gin jelly….yum!
Peanut Choc-Ice was a real treat for a peanut lover like me, it had a delectable combination of peanut chocolate ice cream with caramelized peanuts and caramel sauce.
Our overall experience was fabulous. The food, the drinks, the service and the atmosphere was great. We can’t wait to come back again.
