Say Namaste, to a brand new Indian restaurant in Dubai- Peppermill. It is a home grown concept offering Indian cuisine with an inventive and creative touch. The menu is inspired by the colonial era in India. So you can expect influences from Arabic, Portuguese, British and French cuisines.
Located in the Level 1 of Dubai Festival City Mall, Peppermill boasts of a waterfront dining area. The spacious venue is sprawled across 6,570 square feet.
The Indian inspired interiors is colorful, traditional and beautiful. Loved the tastefully done decor-from the furniture, paintings to the tableware.
Peppermill has different kinds of seating options from private to indoor and outdoor area. As the weather was still good, we decided to sit outdoors. We were enthralled by the stunning waterfront view outdoors.
Their menu is vast and varied, with good options for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. While we were going through the menu we were offered two types of pre starters-Kurmura and an Eggplant based pre starter.
Drinks
Their beverage menu had such an interesting and creative drinks that we ordered 4 of them.
- Coconut and curry leaf Mojito- Fresh curry leaves muddled with coconut water and garnished with coconut flakes.
- Kulfi Lassi- Home made Indian milk ice cream, yogurt shake with saffron.
- Peppermill Shikanji- Lime juice, honey and roasted cumin blended with ice cubes.
- Passion fruit Margarita- It had a blend of passion fruit and crushed ice with glass rimmed with chat masala.
Each and every drink we tried was unique, tasty and refreshing. Everything was freshly made and served in earthy and rustic glasses.
Food
Salad
Fattoush Ala Indie– Traditional Arabic Fattoush with an Indian touch was amazing. Liked the addition of pao crisps to it.
Soup
We had Tomato Shorba and Peppermill Lentil Soup. Both the soups were packed with great taste and flavor. My little girl who never bothers to even taste a spoonful of soup, went crazy over their delicious soup.
Starter
Peppermill Chaat Platter– It consisted of a selection of India’s most famous street food which is the Chaat. There was Palak patta chaat, Samosa, Pani Puri, Crisp sweet potatoes and Dahi Vada. Their chaat platter is a must-try for all chaat lovers.
Nawabi Paneer Tikka- Soft and succulent paneer was stuffed with pickle, yellow chili with yogurt marinade and it was grilled in a tandoor. It was spicy and tasty.
Mains
Loved the Peppermill’s take on classic Matar Paneer where the peas were baked inside the Paneer. It had a rich and heavy gravy.
If you are a fan of soya then you should definitely order their Soya Chaap Masala. It had tandoori soya with old Delhi style onion and tomato gravy.
The Dal Makhani at Peppermill was slow cooked and had a delicious homemade flavor.
Assorted Indian bread that came in a Bread Basket went well with all the curries. The bread was freshly baked.
Their slow cooked Vegetable Biryani was full of fresh Indian flavors. The biryani was fragrant, well cooked and sumptuous. It was served with a bowl of creamy Raita.
Dessert
The Sweet Shop is a platter consisting of desserts like Gulab Jamun, Kesari Rasmalai with coconut cream and Peppercorn Panna Cotta. Each and every dessert was deliciously different, rich and utterly tasty. We relished it.
We had an amazing dining experience at Peppermill. The food was outstanding and the plating was beautiful. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful. The service was top notch. The ambience was fantastic. The pricing is reasonable.
