On January 17th, the well known tea brand from Sri Lanka-Dilmah opened it’s first tea lounge in Dubai-t-Lounge by Dilmah. For a tea lover like me, it was a pure delight to attend this event.
It was an event where I not only got to enjoy different kinds of tea, but also got to meet the founder Mr. Merrill. J. Fernando and learnt so many things about tea and tea making.
The Dilmah Story
Merrill. J. Fernando was in his twenties when in 1950s, he devoted his life to tea. Four decades later he was joined by his two sons-Dilhan and Malik(after whom he named his Dilmah Tea) who share his passion. Today, more than 60 years on, Merrill and his sons-The Fernando family, have unique passion and expertise in tea. Having their own tea gardens, printing and packaging facilities the ‘Dilmah family’ grows, packs and offers consumers around the world only the finest, direct from origin.
You can expect quality, authenticity and variety from Dilmah Tea. They pioneered the concept of single origin tea in 1988 when the family company went against industry trends to declare it’s commitment to authenticity.
Garden fresh, unblended tea is a hallmark of Dilmah and offers a unique taste of unblended Ceylon tea packed at source(from where it is grown). Their range includes traditional specialty, gourmet and premium tea, herbal infusions, pure green tea, flavored tea, spiced chai, organic tea, contemporary selection of tea, boutique watte and t-series tea.
The t-Lounge by Dilmah
The t-Lounge by Dilmah was first conceptualized in 2003 and the first ever outlet opened in Colombo. The first Dubai outlet that opened on 17th January 2017 is located in the Egypt Court at the Ibn Battuta Mall.
The Dubai outlet has been opened in partnership with businessman Mr.Ajay Sethi and former Pakistan cricket captain Mr.Rameez Raja.
The t-Lounge will offer artisanal teas served hot, chilled, sparkling or pulled and paired with crepes, waffles, ice creams and more.
Apart from offering a wide range of designer teas and handcrafted dishes, the t-Lounge also offers a retail space for fine tea from Dilmah.
The t-Lounge by Dilmah is a must-visit destination for all tea enthusiasts in UAE.
