You are in a mood to grab a local bite and don’t know where to go! Well, I know the perfect place for you-Local Bites Cafe. It is a cafe/restaurant where you can indulge in traditional Emirati cuisine with a modern touch.
Located on Jumeirah Beach Road, Local Bites Cafe had a complete makeover recently. The minute you enter this cozy cafe, you know that you are going to have a memorable time as the cafe has a vintage vibe to it.
Local Bites Cafe has Emirati inspired decor and welcoming atmosphere. Loved the Arabesque paintings adorning the walls, chandelier made of cups and saucers and unique accessories.
The cafe offers both indoor and outdoor dining space. As we really liked the tastefully done up decor inside, we decided to dine indoors.
Their menu offers a great variety of diverse dishes. They have classic Emirati dishes as well as dishes inspired by Indian/Pakistani cuisine. There is a separate section in the menu for salads, breads and pastas.
Whether you are planning to have breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner, Local Bites Cafe has it covered.
We started off with drinks first. Their drinks menu is impressive with both, hot and cold beverages. We ordered the Jumeirah Mint Lemonade and Frozen Strawberry. Both our drinks were delicious and refreshing.
As our starters, we had a platter of mini Samosa. It had an assortment of cheese and potato samosas served with mint chutney and tomato ketchup. It was tasty and oh-so-addictive!
Next, we ordered the Jumeirah Platter which is their best selling platter. This platter consisted of 1 paratha, 2 khameer, 2 chebab and balaleet served with date syrup and cream cheese. This platter can be shared between two people. We loved everything that we tried in this platter, but the khameer and balaleet were the two dishes that really stood out.
Mediterranean Magic is another platter that we ordered. It consisted of freshly cooked foul medames, grilled halloumi, fresh hummus, Arabic bread, zaatar and labneh. It was a delicious and hearty meal.
Their Nutella Paratha was highly recommended by their staff and we went ahead and ordered it. The Nutella Paratha can be had for breakfast or for dessert. It had crisp Paratha stuffed with rich Nutella and fresh strawberries. It tasted absolutely divine and a definite must-try.
A visit to an Emirati cafe is incomplete without having Lugaimat-sweet fried dumplings in date syrup. The Lugaimat was crunchy on the outside and soft from the inside. Oh yes! It will have you asking for more, Yum.
Overall, we had a great dining experience. The food, the service and the ambience was good. Local Bites Cafe is one of those few places that I would love to go back again.
