Delhi Darbar-Barsha

Delhi Darbar
Delhi Darbar is an Indian restaurant offering Mughlai Cuisine. The first Delhi Darbar opened in Mumbai, more than 60 years ago. From then to now, it has been the most sought after destination for Mughlai food. They follow the original recipes of centuries ago. You can expect authentic and traditional Mughlai cuisine.

Started by the Mansuri family, Delhi Darbar has grown into one of the most trusted restaurant chain when it comes to Mughlai North Indian cuisine. Delhi Darbar is now fronted by Atif Mansuri, the third generation chef and restaurateur from the Mansuri family.

Atif carries forward his grandfather’s legacy.

“My Grandfather left a secret legacy where he added every ingredient with a great thought and passion for food, today it is my obligation to preserve and share it with you.”

Delhi Darbar has outlets in India and UAE. Having already dined at their first Dubai outlet in Karama years ago, I was looking forward to my dinner at their newest branch in Barsha.

The Barsha branch is situated behind Mall of Emirates

The Delhi Darbar outlet is spacious with simple and minimalistic interiors. Loved the picture collage of Mumbai that adorned their wall.

Their menu is vast, they offer Mughlai as well as Indian Chinese cuisine. Whether you are a vegetarian or a non vegetarian, you will have ample choice.

Mughlai restaurant
We ordered a Fresh Lime Soda and freshly squeezed Orange Juice to drink. While sipping on our drinks, our complimentary platter of condiments like pickle, chutney, Raita and Poppadums arrived.

Starters

Masala Papad

Crispy Papad topped with spicy salad, makes Masala Papad a refreshing and light starter.

Paneer Tikka was marinated and grilled to perfection. It was tasty and succulent.

Hara Bhara Kebab is one of my favorite kebab, I wish they had made this kebab a bit smaller in size and lighter. Compared to other places, the Hara Bhara Kebab at Delhi Darbar wasn’t that good.

Main Course

Delhi Darbar's Mumbai Biryani

The Dal Makhani was rich, creamy and delicious. It was a joy to dunk pieces of  chapati into it.

Vegetable Kadai had a medley of veggies in a tomato based gravy. It was flavorful and tasty.

Freshly made, whole wheat Chapati went very well with the dal and vegetable Kadai.

Their biryani is very popular and we had to order it. They offer a great variety of biryani, being a vegetarian, we ordered the Vegetable Biryani. The biryani has two layers, below is the veg masala and on the top is the biryani rice sprinkled with roasted cashews, raisins and grated paneer. The biryani was lip smackingly delicious. A definite must-try.

Dessert

Dudhi Halwa is an Indian dessert made with the vegetable, bottle gourd. It was absolutely delicious and a great way to end our dinner at Delhi Darbar.

The food, the service and the atmosphere was good. The pricing is reasonable and affordable.  Delhi Darbar validates the fact that authentic and delicious Indian food can be found in a simple and humble set up.
