Looking for an authentic New York style pizzeria in UAE? Russo’s New York Pizzeria is the place for you. The first outlet of Russo’s was opened in the year 1992 in USA. Few years ago they opened their first international branch outside of USA in Jumeirah, Dubai. Now they’ve branches in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. Recently I visited their Jumeirah branch for dinner.
Located in the ground floor of Jumeirah Centre, Russo’s has a warm and welcoming ambience. It reminded me of the pizzerias that I used to frequent in New York couple of years ago. The ambience of the restaurant is charming and unpretentious. I liked the wooden furniture, comfortable sofas and large picture frames of New York City on their walls.
Motto of Russo’s
“If it isn’t fresh, don’t serve it”.
As their motto suggests, they only serve fresh and high quality food. Their menu is not limited to pizzas only, they serve a good variety of salads, soups, appetizers, calzone, pizzas, pastas, risotto and desserts. They have an elaborate menu and you will be spoilt for choice. Both the vegetarians and the non vegetarians have great options.
After being seated, hubby and I ordered our drinks. We were recommended to have their newly introduced mocktails in their menu. As per the recommendation, we ordered Peach Mojito and Healthy Green mocktail. Both our drinks were refreshing. We especially liked the Healthy Green which had a combination of spinach, banana and cucumber.
Next, we were served a complimentary basket of freshly baked Bread with 3 kinds of dip-Olive Tapenade, Roasted pepper sauce and Red chilli sauce.
As we were digging into the delicious bread and dip, Mushroom Soup was served. The mushroom soup was topped with diced mushroom and garnished with truffle oil. The soup was tasty, aromatic and wholesome.
Russo’s has added many new dishes to it’s menu. We ordered the Burrata Salad which is new in their menu. It had fresh Burrata cheese on a bed of sliced Roma tomatoes, Rucola and extra virgin olive oil. On the top it was drizzled with balsamic reduction. The Burrata salad was delicious.
As our appetizer, we were served Eggplant Rollatini and it was beyond amazing. Lightly breaded eggplant was stuffed with Ricotta and Mozarella cheese and served with tomato cream sauce.
At Russo’s all their pizzas are hand tossed and baked in a brick oven. Even gluten free pizza is available. We ordered a Heart Healthy Veggie pizza. It had a medley of veggies like fresh spinach, artichokes, mushrooms, tomatoes, white onions, extra virgin olive oil and heart-smart garlic sauce. It was healthy and tasty.
For our main course we ordered a Pasta and Risotto.
Pasta Primavera is the new addition in their menu. It had a mix of fresh garden vegetables, wild mushrooms, Roma tomatoes, roasted garlic and homemade pesto sauce. It was flavorful and extremely delicious.
Risotto Al Funghi is also a new addition in their menu. The Risotto was made with Arborio rice, portobello mushrooms, Parmesan sauce and truffle oil. It was creamy, we found it too heavy and bland.
An Italian meal is incomplete without Italian desserts, we ordered Italian Cannoli and Panna Cotta.
Italian Cannoli is a traditional dessert from Sicily in Italy. Chef Ali had made a perfect cannoli with a crisp shell filled with cream and topped with orange zest. It was fantastic.
Panna Cotta was deliciously light and creamy. A definite must-try at Russo’s.
Overall, we had an amazing dining experience at Russo’s. The food is fresh, tasty and delicious. The portion size is huge. The service is friendly, helpful and efficient. We are definitely coming back again.
