Eat Greek Kouzina-The Dubai Mall

Greek Restaurant, rustic decor
I was recently invited to dine at Eat Greek Kouzina, as the name suggests it offers Greek cuisine. The Greek diet is a perfect example of traditional Mediterranean eating. It is based around a variety of colorful and flavorful ingredients  that are high in nutrients and low in animal fats. Having spent couple of weeks in Greece, I do know what to order and always get excited when I’ve to visit Greek restaurants in Dubai, as there are only a handful of them.

Eat Greek Kouzina has three outlets in Dubai. I visited their ‘The Dubai Mall’ outlet. Located in the lower ground floor of the Dubai Mall, Eat Greek Kouzina has a prime location. When I went there on a Sunday evening, it was buzzing with people.

The restaurant has a beautiful and rustic interiors. It reminded me of the cozy and warm restaurants that I visited in Greece. The wooden floors, stone washed walls, rustic furniture, exposed wooden beams, glass jars with bulbs hanging on the  ceiling and the Greek music in the background enhances the dining experience at Eat Greek Kouzina. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept.

The menu is simple and straight to the point, so it is easy to order. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu offers soup, salads, hot and cold appetizers, mixed grill and mains. Though they have not listed any dessert in the menu, they  have a few daily changing desserts.

Mocktails
Their drinks menu offers a good variety of drinks from fresh juices, fresh fruit Mojitos, mocktails to classic coffee, Greek coffee and tea, apart from home made iced tea and soft drinks. My husband and I had their mocktails – Exotica and Mykonos. It was tasty and refreshing.

Baked feta cheese
We wanted to try their signature hot appetizer Baked Feta Cheese first, as we had heard our friends raving about it. And we were not disappointed, freshly baked feta cheese was topped with tomato, capsicum, onion and olive oil. A definite must-try, if you visit Eat Greek Kouzina.

Next to arrive was a mix of hot and cold appetizers with homemade pita bread.

Cold and hot Greek appetizers
Can’t think of visiting a Greek restaurant and not having Greek salad. The Greek Salad at Eat Greek Kouzina was outstanding.

The Tzatziki had the perfect blend of yogurt, cucumber, garlic and fresh herbs.

The Eggplant Salad as recommended by our server was tasty and flavorful. We liked the smoky flavor.

• Spicy Feta Cheese made with feta cheese purée, fresh red chilli and paprika was mildly spicy. It was a bit on the heavier side.

• Graviera Cheese & Zucchini Fritters were the only dish we didn’t like. It required a bit of seasoning to enhance the taste and flavor.

The Pita Bread was freshly baked in-house and went well with our meal.

Greek style sandwich
As we are vegetarians, the choice is limited. We were already full after eating our cold and hot appetizers and decided to share a Greek style sandwich. We had the Grilled Veggie Sandwich, it came with a portion of well seasoned fries. The sandwich was made in typical Mediterranean style with basil and balsamic vinegar dressing. The wholesome veggie grilled sandwich was a meal in itself. It was delicious.

Desserts on display
Like I already said earlier, they don’t have any desserts listed in their menu. But they do offer a small but good dessert option in their display. It really looked inviting, but we had saved little space for something else. Maybe next time we will try their desserts.

Nutella milkshake
Well, that something was their popular Nutella milkshake served with a Nutella filled doughnut and goes by the name of ‘The Nutella Spartan’. Their Nutella Spartan is quite a rage on the social media and I always wanted to try it. Though, it is laden with calories (you can always exercise later, haha) it tastes absolutely delicious. We loved it. It is served in great style too-one of the members of the staff served it wearing the ancient Spartan helmet. How cool is that!

Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The food, the drinks, the ambience and the service was great. We can’t wait to come back again.
