Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor-Melià Dubai

Fancy an Indian themed Iftar? Then you have to check out Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor. Fronted by the well known celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor himself, Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor offers progressive Indian cuisine. The restaurant offers both Indian classic as well new inventive dishes.

Located at the quiet corner of Bur Dubai, in the ground level of Melià Hotel. Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor is a fine dining restaurant. The decor is beautiful, modern and chic. The furniture, upholstery and dim lighting give it a romantic vibe.

During Ramadan, you can expect a Ramadan inspired decor to enhance your Iftar experience. They also have an outdoor closed terrace with a good selection of Shisha.

I was invited to the Pre Ramadan Iftar by Dipti of  JWD pr events. As you can guess, the place was filled with bloggers.

The Iftar is inclusive of cold beverages like Juices, soft drinks and traditional Ramadan drinks. Our table was filled with Iftar essentials like dates, Arabic sweets and fruits.

Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor offers two set menu for Iftar-vegetarian and non vegetarian. Being a vegetarian, I naturally opted for the vegetarian option.

The pre starters included Roasted Papad, Pani Puri Shots and the unique and delectable Lemon Grass Spheres.

Starters

• Rumani Paneer

• Masala Chaas Rubiyan

• Hummus Ki Gilawat

• Curry Leaf Spiked Baby Corn Cracker

All the starters were good. They were delicately spiced and tasty. The portion size was perfect.

Mains

Paneer Papad Tokri was disappointing, as I found it very bland and lacking in flavor and taste.

Cauliflower And Potato Sabzi was amazing. It had wok tossed baby potato, cherry tomato and cauliflower with well balanced spices.

Lalla Mussa Dal was outstanding. It had a homemade taste and flavor to it. The dal was rich, creamy and absolutely delicious.

The Assorted Breads, Khurmi Naan and Ulta Tawa Parantha went well with our mains.

Desserts

For desserts we were offered:

• Mahalabia

• Phirnee

• Chenna Angoori

• Malpua

• Gajar Ka Halwa

The desserts were presented very well inside small bowls on a stand. The bite sized portion was perfect. But can’t say the same about the taste of  desserts as they were either too sweet or lacklustre.  Only Mahalabia was okay. The desserts need a major improvement.

Overall, I had a good experience.

P.S-This menu is available throughout Ramadan.
