Mado Restaurant and Cafe opened it’s second branch in Dubai last week. It is a well known Turkish restaurant and cafe from Turkey. I was invited for the grand opening of the restaurant.
Located in the heart of Jumeirah, Mado Restaurant and Cafe is easily accessible. Sprawled across two floors, this upscale eatery is very spacious. It can easily seat 300 guests. You can expect a Turkish inspired decor. The interiors of the restaurant is a blend of modern and traditional Turkish influences. The restaurant is elegantly done. Loved the tapestry and chandeliers.
Mado is not only a restaurant and cafe, it also specializes in Turkish food products, traditional Turkish bakery, Turkish sweets and it is the manufacturer of the famous Mado ice cream. The Mado ice cream is made with 100% natural goat’s milk from Mado farms in the city of Kahramanmarash, without any natural preservatives or flavors. The bakery and the sweet section of Mado is located on the ground floor. You can buy all kinds of Turkish sweets, nuts, chocolates and ice creams from that section. All the products are made with finest of ingredients and they make excellent gifts. I loved the Turkish delight and chocolates.
As it was the grand opening of the restaurant, it was too crowded, but the staff took good care of the guests. After being seated we were immediately offered drinks.
Hubby and I tried two of their drinks- Raspberry Romance and Lemonade. Both the drinks were good. We especially liked the lemonade which was accompanied with mint leaves, green apples and lemon slices. It was refreshing.
The starters mainly consisted of a Halloumi & veggie salad and Cold Mezze like Hummus, Mohammara and Fattoush with Freshly baked bread. Everything was fresh and tasty.
The mains consisted of a selection of meats with grilled vegetables and rice. We had to give it a miss as we are vegetarians.
The best part of our dinner was the dessert. We were offered a variety of Turkish Baklava. It was fantastic. We tried some six varieties and all of them were outstanding.
We were also offered Kunafa with sweet rose water syrup. It was perfectly done and tasted deliciously divine.
We couldn’t wait to try their famous Mado ice cream. The ice cream was served with finely minced pistachios. Oh boy, eating it was like being in an ice cream heaven. I can make a trip all the way to Mado to just eat that ice cream. Their ice cream is not to be missed.
How can we end a Turkish meal without Turkish coffee! The Turkish coffee was strong and aromatic.
Mado Restaurant and Cafe offers an elaborate menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had a wonderful and authentic Turkish culinary experience. Now we know where to go, when we crave for Turkish food.
