With just a few days left for the holy month of Ramadan, Dubai’s F & B industry is busy with Iftar preparation. There are Iftar previews happening almost every day. I was invited for the Grand Iftar Preview at Grand Hyatt recently.
It was an exclusive preview for the bloggers held at their popular restaurant ‘The Collective.’ The actual grand Iftar will take place at Al Ameera Ballroom in Grand Hyatt during Ramadan.
Al Ameera Ballroom is a majestic and spacious ballroom. Expect a family friendly atmosphere. Sohour can be enjoyed at the Laylati Cafe(Ramadan air-conditioned tent).
The Grand Iftar will include hot and cold Ramadan beverages. We were served fresh juices at the exclusive dinner.
The Grand Iftar will include a wide range of regional and international cuisine from their live cooking stations. Grand Hyatt will also be hosting chefs and restaurants from the region. This year they will welcome Syrian ice cream maker Bakdash from Souk Al Hamidiya of Damascus.
At the exclusive dinner, we were served some of the delicacies that will be offered during Ramadan.
We were offered a variety of salads, starters, cold and hot Mezze, mains and desserts.
As a vegetarian I tried only the vegetarian dishes. Some of my favorites were the couscous salad, falafel, fried halloumi cheese, Mohammara, moutabel, fragrant saffron rice, Moroccan Tagine and freshly baked Arabic bread.
The dessert offering was good. We were offered a selection of traditional and international desserts. A must-try is their sticky date pudding. It is the best pudding in town.
We ended our meal with traditional hot beverages like coffee and tea. I had the refreshing Moroccan tea.
Not only do they offer great Iftar meal, they will also be donating one dirham for every Iftar meal bought, to Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic organization dedicated to transforming lives through medical education and research.
