Wafi Gourmet-Lebanese Cuisine

Wafi Gourmet is well known for it’s deli style  gourmet food. They offer a variety of deli counters filled with olives, dates, nuts, dry fruits, pickles, chocolate and sweets. Wafi Gourmet is the place for authentic Lebanese cuisine.

Wafi Gourmet has two outlets in Dubai, apart from an outlet at Dubai International Airport. I visited their Wafi City outlet for lunch last week.

The restaurant is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating area. The decor of the place is Arabic inspired. Loved the traditional food market feel of the place. Wafi Gourmet also offers Shisha.

My friend and I sat outdoors in their covered dining area that had air conditioning . It was bright and pleasant. We were quite impressed with their elaborate menu.

Their drinks section of the menu offers fresh juices, mocktails, milkshakes, soft drinks and hot beverages like coffee, tea and hot chocolate. My friend had the Guava juice and I had the Pomegranate juice. Both our drinks were refreshing.

The food menu is vast with a good selection of soups, salads, starters, mains and desserts. As we both were vegetarians, we ordered only the vegetarian food. Wafi Gourmet offers good options to non vegetarians and vegetarians. Here’s a list of dishes that we ordered:

We started our lunch with light and crunchy Tabbouleh Quinoa. The addition of quinoa to the usual Tabbouleh, enhanced the taste of the salad.

We had Fatayer Spinach made with brown bread. We liked this healthy option. The Fatayer was fantastic. I totally recommend the brown bread Fatayer.

Next we had the Potato Cubes, it was spicy and crispy. The Potato cubes were served with garlic and coriander. It was the regular kind that we get in all the Lebanese restaurant.

Cheese Roll was excellent with crunchy shell filled with soft cheese inside.

Muhammara made with red bell pepper paste, tahina, walnut and olive oil was delicious.

Baba Ghanouj, the smoky aubergine dish is very popular in the Middle East. The Baba Ghanouj that we had for lunch at Wafi Gourmet was too sour. It needs a major improvement.

With our lunch we were served delicious fresh Bread hot from the oven.

We ended our meal with Kunafa that was served with dollop of cream on the top and sweet rose water syrup in the side. The Kunafa was utterly tasty. We relished it.

Overall, we had a good dining experience. The food, the service and the ambience was great. The portion size is good. The pricing is on the higher side. Wafi Gourmet is a place to go, if you are craving for Lebanese food.
