The Counter-Dubai Mall

I love a good burger and I am always on a lookout for good vegetarian burgers. When I got a voucher from Zomato on behalf of ‘The Counter’, I was thrilled as I had heard great things about their burgers. On a weekday evening I headed over to The Counter’s Dubai Mall branch with my seven year old daughter.

The Counter is a Los Angeles based burger joint. It has two branches in Dubai- The Beach Mall, JBR  and The Dubai Mall.

The concept of The Counter is cool. The menu allows the diners to create a combination from a menu of over 100 ingredients. They offer an amazing choice when it comes to burgers-from antibiotic free, 100% natural Angus beef, chicken, turkey burger to vegan and vegetarian burger.

You get to create your own burger with a choice of patties, as well as a selection of cheese, sauces, toppings and buns. They offer menu options for kids.

The Counter’s decor is American inspired. It has a vibe of a casual American diner. We liked the family friendly atmosphere.

My experience was unpleasant due to the inefficient handling of the voucher validity process. It took more than an hour to confirm the validity of the voucher. It left a sour taste in our mouth. Regardless of  our unpleasant experience, you can expect a fair review of the food that we had at The Counter.

We started off with drinks- my daughter had the Birthday Cake Shake and I had the California Dreams.

My daughter loved the Birthday Cake Shake, that had milkshake blended with cake mix and garnished with rainbow sprinkles.

The California Dreams is their signature smoothie made with fat-free frozen yogurt, orange juice, peaches, banana and strawberry. It was refreshing.

We ordered  Sweet Potato Fries + Sweet Sriracha Fries as our starters. The Sweet potato fries were of the regular kind that we get in all eateries. The Sweet sriracha fries were the thin shoestring fries that were drenched with sriracha sauce and topped with green onion and toasted sesame seeds. It was amazing and comes totally recommended for all the sriracha fans.

My daughter had the Grilled Cheese Sandwich  from the kids menu and it came with a side portion of fries. It was a basic grilled cheese sandwich and it was not extraordinary.

I had the Asian Veggie Burger, it had a house made vegan pattie with mixed organic greens, medley of veggies in a sesame ginger dressing and Thai peanut sauce. It was amazing.

Chocolate Brownie was the dessert that we shared. The Chocolate brownie came with two scoops of vanilla ice cream and caramel syrup drizzled on it. The chocolate brownie was a bit of a letdown as it was tasteless. I felt it was not fresh, infact we hardly touched it.

Apart from the unpleasant experience from the management, the food was good, the service was quick and efficient.
