Yansoon Arabic Restaurant-Ras Al Khaimah

Last month Yansoon an authentic Arabic restaurant in Ras Al Khaimah had a grand opening. I was invited to attend the opening, but I was unable to go, so I went there with my family last Friday for lunch.

As it was a Friday there was no traffic, we barely took an hour to reach Ras Al Khaimah. Though we were not familiar with Ras Al Khaimah, it was easy to locate Yansoon.

The restaurant is the latest addition to the Hakaya Collection, a division of the RAK Hospitality Holdings Group. Yansoon is one of the most exciting restaurant openings in the Northern Emirates.

Located by the mangroves of RAK’s creek on Al Qawasim Corniche, Yansoon offers a stunning view. The location and the view is excellent.

Yansoon restaurant is named after the flavorful spice anise seeds. Yansoon means anise seeds or berry in Arabic.

Yansoon is a big and spacious restaurant sprawled across two floors. It can easily accommodate 200 people. Yansoon offers indoor and outdoor dining. It also has a separate lounge for Shisha.

The interiors of Yansoon is classy and regal. The decor is done up tastefully-from gorgeous chandeliers, upholstery  to beautiful furniture and tableware. The place oozes luxury.

We were given a choice for dining at the restaurant indoors on the ground floor or on the terrace at the top floor. We decided to have our lunch in the terrace. The view from the terrace is mind blowing.

The location, the view and the ambience is amazing. And we were wondering whether the food would be as good as everything else. Let me start my culinary journey at Yansoon.

Yansoon offers authentic Arabic food, they specialize in Levantine cuisine. You can expect fresh and top quality food from them. Their menu is vast and elaborate. We were spoilt for choice and didn’t know what to order. They have a separate drinks menu as well.

We started off with drinks. Their drinks menu offers fresh juices, lemonade, Italian sodas, mocktails, milkshakes, smoothies, iced tea, healthy drinks and hot beverages like coffee and tea.

My kids had the fresh Avocado Juice and my hubby and I had the Cucumber & Ginger Italian Soda  and Lemongrass & Apple Italian Soda. It was tasty and refreshing.

Whether you are a non vegetarian or a vegetarian you will have plenty of options. As we are vegetarians, we ordered only from the vegetarian section of the menu. Meat lovers will love their charcoal grill section of the menu. Yansoon offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here’s a list of what we tried.

Potato Wedges is the favorite with the kids and we always end up ordering it. The potato wedges at Yansoon was perfectly done and non greasy.

The Cheese Sambousek had a filling of cheese in a homemade pastry.

The Mediterranean Salad had a medley of veggies with lettuce, mint, olives and feta cheese. It was fresh and crunchy.

The Falafels were fried to crisp perfection and came on a bed of greens with a dipping sauce.

Mohammara  had a nice flavor of the roasted peppers and it was slightly spicy.

We were recommended to try the Yansoon Moutabel, it was different from the regular moutabel. Walnuts and pine seeds added crunchiness to it. A must-try if you ask me.

We also had a freshly baked Cheese and Zaatar Manakeesh. It was utterly delicious.

We were served hot, fluffy and freshly baked Arabic bread.

We had Umm Ali for dessert. It was rich, soft and extremely delicious.

We ended our meal with Moroccan tea. We were also served their specialty macaroons.

Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Good food, top notch service, beautiful settings and glorious view. It is worth traveling from Dubai or from any other emirate. I would like to recommend Yansoon to everyone.
