When it comes to burger joints in Dubai, we have plenty of choices. But if you are looking for a good burger joint in Dubai, there are only a few. Is Gourmet Burger Kitchen or GBK one of those few places offering good burgers? Let’s find out.
Currently, there are 3 GBK outlets in Dubai. I visited their DIFC branch. GBK was first established in London, a few years back they opened their Dubai outlet.
GBK recently added many new items to their menu like the hot smoked barbeque burger, fillet steak burger, mini burgers, jalapeño overload and salads. The menu is fantastic with great many options.
I visited the DIFC branch on a Monday evening with a friend. As it was way past dinner time it was not crowded. After being seated in a cosy corner, we were immediately attended to.
This GBK branch is spacious with comfortable seating. The decor is elegant and minimalistic with good lighting. It has a relaxed vibe. The quirky posters on the wall, added a fun aspect to the place. We loved the fact that the restaurant was sparkling clean.
While going through the menu, we were offered complimentary peanuts in a cute mug. We were so busy stuffing ourselves with it, that I forgot to take the picture.
We started off with drinks. GBK’s drinks menu offers milkshakes, fresh juices,lemonade, mojito, soft drinks and hot beverages.
We opted for the Elderflower Mojito. Made with a combination of fresh mint, lemon and sparkling elderflower this mocktail was refreshing.
What can you expect from GBK?
Everything served in GBK is made to order, so you want to make your own burger, no worries, just choose your favorites from the menu and they’ll do the rest. At GBK everything is made fresh in-house by using high quality products.
GBK also has a separate kids menu and customers can avail a free kids meal for children below the age of 12 years for every adult size burger purchased in any of their outlets.
For the health-freaks GBK’s bunless burgers are a great option. There is also an option to swap your burger bun to a whole wheat bun or lettuce wrap.
The food menu at GBK offers appetizers, sides, salads, burgers and desserts. We tried some of the new dishes and some old favorites. Below is the list of food items that we tried.
Spicy Cheese Bites had a yummy filling of cheddar cheese with jalapeño pepper. It was spicy and tasty.
Sweet Potato Fries was baked to crisp perfection. It went very well with the garlic mayo dip.
Goat Cheese Salad is a new addition to their menu. It was made with grilled goat cheese, mixed lettuce,tomato,honey, thyme and pine nuts. It had balanced flavors and tasted super delicious. A must-try at GBK.
My friend had the Hot Smoked BBQ with Chunky Fries and Blue Cheese Slaw. The hot smoked BBQ is the new addition to GBK’s menu. My friend didn’t want a big towering burger, she chose the bunless burger. According to her the burger was good, but not extraordinary.
The chunky fries were well done and blue cheese slaw was outstanding.
I had the Classic Cheese Burger with Homemade Onion Rings, House Mayo and Salad from the veggie section of their menu. It had a pan-fried bean patty with aged cheddar cheese. It was a perfect veggie burger that was flavorful, hearty and tasty. I liked the fact that the burger was not too dry. The sides were great too.
We wanted to have chocolate fondant for dessert, but it was not available. So we ordered Apple Pie instead. It came with a scoop of vanilla sauce and caramel syrup. It would have been great if it was a bit more moist.
The portion size is big. The pricing is reasonable. The service was helpful and friendly. The food, especially the burgers was packed with freshness, great taste and amazing flavor. GBK is one of the handful of burger joints in Dubai that offers good burgers.
