Emirates NBD and Zomato had partnered up to provide one of a kind Food Trail all across a line of restaurants in Jumeriah Beach Residence. A few bloggers and I were invited to be a part of this Foodie Trail. We got to visit four different restaurants. We didn’t have any idea regarding the places we were about to go. It was a secret. This made our foodie trail all the more interesting. Leopold’s of London was our first stop of the foodie trail.
I was delighted to visit Leopold’s of London, as I always wanted to visit it since the time it opened in JBR. We had a session of Tea and Cakes at Leopold’s.
The restaurant is huge, it has two floors with a balcony area on the first floor. The view is stunning from the first floor. The setting is beautiful. The decor is modern, classy and elegant. Dark wood furnishings blends well with the dimly lit place and adds mystery to the place.
We were seated upstairs for our meet up. The walls were stacked with bottles of tea. We were impressed with wide range of tea that they were offering.
Our tables were laid out with various kinds of teas in teapots. There were in-house tea experts known as tea doctors in white lab coats who gave us an insight about the art of tea making.
We had a variety of tea, my favorites were:
Dragon Pearls- It is hand rolled balls of green tea flavored with fresh jasmine flowers. I liked the sweet jasmine scent and flavor. It had a relaxing effect on me.
Emerald Green- Pure organically grown tea with wonderful aromatic taste of Italian bergamot orange combined with sunflower blossoms. It was smooth and light.
Chocolate Diavolo- It is a mixture of tea, chocolate and chili. It had a spicy after taste, goes well with chocolate cake.
All their cakes are freshly baked in-house. We got to try six of them.
Ginger Cake with Treacle cream- It is not my favorite cake. It was well made and moist.
Medjool Date cake with salted caramel cream cheese- I am not a fan of date cake, but I must admit that this cake was tasty and not too sweet.
Spicy Carrot Cake- I usually love carrot cake, but somehow I didn’t like it here. Maybe it had too much flavor.
Blueberry Vanilla Cheesecake- It was delicious, creamy and sweet.
Caramel Pecan Cheesecake- This creamy caramel topped cheesecake was excellent.
Flourless Chocolate Cake- This was my favorite, can’t believe how I gobbled up the whole cake in two minutes. It was rich, dark and delicious. This cake was gluten free.
We had an amazing tea and cake session and also learnt about the science of tea from the tea experts.
I did go through the menu of Leopold’s of London. They offer European cuisine. I would love to come back again and try it. I would like to recommend their tea and cakes.
