Happy International Coffee Day to all the coffee lovers! A few days ago I embarked on an exclusive one-of-a-kind brew-tiful experience at Raw Coffee Company in Al Quoz, Dubai.
RAW is a popular homegrown speciality coffee roastery and the winner of BBC Good Food’s Homegrown Roastery UAE 2022 and it has also earned recognition by Dubai Economy and Tourism for its positive contributions to the F & B industry.
RAW was founded in 2007 by Kim Thompson and Matt Toogood. They source premium green beans from around the world, their beans are ethically sourced directly from the farmers. The beans are roasted with care, paying attention to every detail in their warehouse roastery. You can sample or purchase their single origins or blends or order online and have fresh beans delivered to your doorstep.
On our immersive coffee tour in RAW, we got an introduction to RAW Coffee Company and learnt about the various aspects of coffee like:
1 What is speciality coffee and why it’s different
2 The basics of coffee from its seed to your cup
3 Guided tour of the roastery
4 Cupping
5 Making an espresso
6 Steaming milk
7 Brewing coffee with a V60
It was an amazing and informative tour. What I really enjoyed the most was the coffee tasting experience. After the coffee tour, we had a delectable lunch at their cafe. The cafe has cool and casual vibes with an all-day breakfast menu.
The retail section at RAW offers a wide range of coffees, brewing equipment, gift boxes, oat milk, honey and more.
Overall it was a great experience.
