Gypsy Chinese Restaurant the well-known Indo-Chinese restaurant from the city of Mumbai has a new address in Dubai. A month ago Gypsy Chinese Restaurant opened in the bustling foodie district of Karama. I visited them for lunch yesterday.
What is Indo-Chinese cuisine?
Indo-Chinese cuisine is an adaptation of Chinese seasoning and cooking techniques to Indian tastes. This cuisine first gained popularity in the city of Kolkata, India after a small community of Chinese immigrants developed it. Now the Indo-Chinese cuisine is popular everywhere in India as well as abroad.
The new Gypsy Chinese Restaurant is a small and cosy venue with Chinese-inspired interiors. The glass-enclosed open kitchen makes it possible to watch the food while it is being prepared.
Their menu is elaborate and offers great options for vegetarians, non vegetarians and seafood lovers. Though they offer a range of mocktails and fresh juices, I just ordered water as I wanted to start with a soup.
Being a vegetarian, I was happy with the wide variety of choices. The tangy and comforting Veg Lemon Coriander Soup was a perfect way to start the meal.
For starters, I ordered Spiced Water Chestnuts, Tofu Hunan and Crispy Corn Pepper Chili. All the three starters were moderately spicy, full of flavors and utterly delightful.
Next was the main course and I ordered my Indo-Chinese favorites like Vegetable Manchurian, Veg Burnt Garlic Rice, Vegetable Hakka Noodles and Vegetable Sizzling Noodles.
Each and every dish was delicious, well cooked and packed with amazing flavor. Their sizzling noodles is a must-try. In fact, I liked all the dishes that I tried, the only downside was that it was a bit oily.
Ended my lunch with their signature dessert Chocolate Brownie Sizzler. On a hot sizzler plate, moist chocolate brownie was served with vanilla ice cream. It was scrumptious.
My lunch experience at the new Gypsy Chinese Restaurant was wonderful. The pricing is reasonable and affordable. The service is quick and helpful. They also do deliveries, you can order online or call on the phone. I seriously cannot wait to visit them again.
