During the recent Eid holidays, we were craving for Turkish food and decided to visit Sultan Baba Iskender for lunch. Dubai has many Turkish restaurants, but Sultan Baba Iskender really stands out for its authenticity, freshness and variety.
Located in the lovely Jumeirah Beach Road, Sultan Baba Iskender is a spacious Turkish restaurant offering indoor and outdoor seating area. The decor of the venue is simple, cosy and cheerful. Loved the fact that they had a kids play area. And my little girl had a great time playing.
Though they’re famous for Iskender Kebap which is similar to Doner Kebap, their menu features a wide range of Turkish dishes. There is a lot of meat-based dishes in the menu and limited vegetarian options. But being vegetarians, we could only try the veggie dishes and we were certainly not disappointed.

To drink, we ordered freshly made Pomegranate Juice and Orange Juice.

We started off with cold mezze dishes like Hummus, Purslane Salad, Ezme, Gavurdagi Salad and Turkish Bread fresh out of the oven. Each and every dish was deliciously different and oh-so-flavorful.

Next we had the smoky-flavored grilled eggplant dish Herse and the amazingly tasty and simple Saksuka. Liked the crisp Sigara Boregi or the cheese roll.
For the very first time we tried the raw and vegan Cig Kofte which had bulgar kneaded with special spices, garlic, walnuts, pomegranate sauce and chili paste. We had to stuff the Kofte inside the lettuce with few drops of lemon juice. A must-try for all the vegans and vegetarians.

Crisp-thin Veg Lahmacun and Cheese & Spinach Pide had an authentic taste and flavor. We especially liked the Pide. Upon special request the chef made us Grilled Eggplant with cheese and Baked Mushroom. Both were delectable.

Ended our Turkish feast with Baklava and Turkish Tea. Our lunch experience at Sultan Baba Iskender was fantastic. The good food was complemented by warm and impeccable service.
