Seychelles in 4 Nights and 5 Days

Mahe Island

If there is paradise on earth and then it is definitely Seychelles. Stoked that I finally visited this gorgeous country. Seychelles is a country that has to be on top of every travelers, nature-lovers and beach bums list.

We traveled by direct Emirates flight from Dubai to Mahe, Seychelles. It took us approximately 4 hours 30 minutes. There are daily direct flights from Dubai to Seychelles with different flight options.

Seychelles is a Visa Free country and we were granted visitor permit after arrival. You should have a return ticket, confirmed accommodation or invitation letter if you are staying with friends or relatives.

About Seychelles

Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa. It is a small and beautiful country with lush vegetation, nature reserves, numerous beaches, coral reefs and a diverse marine life.

Victoria is the capital of Seychelles and it is situated on the island of Mahe. There are 3 main islands- Mahe, Praslin and La Digue. Mahe is the largest island in Seychelles and home to majority of the country’s population. In fact we stayed in a resort in Mahe throughout our holiday.

What is the best time to visit Seychelles?

Seychelles is a tropical country and it is an all-year-around destination. According to travel experts, the best time to visit is in the months of April, May, October and November. We visited in March and the weather was hot and humid.

Where to stay?

It will depend on your budget. Seychelles has some of the best resorts and hotels in the world. During peak season, it can be very expensive. There are also medium to low range hotels, resorts, hotel apartments, rent-a-home etc. We stayed in the luxurious but dated Le Meridien Fishermen’s Cove in Mahe. It was a family-friendly resort.

La Digue

Getting Around

Taxis are expensive, but rent-a-car seemed to be a popular option among tourists. There are ferries and boats to commute between different islands.

Things to do and see in Seychelles

We stayed in Seychelles for 4 nights and 5 days and we had enough time for relaxation as well as beach activities and island hopping. We visited all the three main islands and also engaged in adventure sports and snorkeling.

After having a relaxed time in our beachside resort on day 1, the next day that is day 2 we took a Private Tour of Mahe. My family and I were picked up from our resort in a private car just for us and we visited all the spots in my Mahe from morning till evening.

Seychelles Tourism

Things we did in Mahe:

  • Picnic on the beach
  • Visited most of the beaches
  • Waterfalls
  • Spice garden/botanical garden
  • Historical monuments
  • Hindu Temple
  • Tea plantation
  • Rum distillery
  • Unique flora and fauna
  • Visited and fed giant tortoises
  • Authentic Seychelles cuisine for lunch
  • Shopped for locally produced souvenirs.

Glass bottom boat

On day 3, we went on Teddy’s Glass Bottom Boat. For this trip we were picked from our resort at 9:30am and dropped back at 4:30pm. From the transparent glass bottom boat, we could see the marine life. We also did bird-watching, feeding the fish, snorkeling, swimming, walked around Moyenne Island , visited couple of beaches and had a bbq lunch. It was a fun trip and kids had a great time.

Praslin Island

Day 4 was hectic and tiring, we went on a full day trip to La Digue and Praslin islands. We were picked up early in the morning at 6:30am and dropped back at 8pm. We went by ferry to the islands and when in the island, we explored it by mini van.

We didn’t like the beach in La Digue and even the island was nothing special. We could have totally skipped it. But Praslin was amazing and we visited Vallée de Mai nature reserve known for the Coco de mer, a rare species of palm tree native to Seychelles. Loved the Anse Lazio, Anse Georgette and Cote d’ Or beaches. It is a good idea to stay in Praslin for couple of days, if you have time.

Beach resorts in Seychelles

Day 5 was our last day in Seychelles and we were going back to Dubai by the night flight. So we enjoyed our resort facilities, had a relaxed time at the spa, swimming pool and the beach.

With stunning white sand beaches, crystal clear waters and gorgeously green vegetation, Seychelles is truly a paradise on earth. We absolutely loved our holiday in Seychelles.
